Be it known that I, WILLTAM P. KIN SELLA, a citizen'of the United States, and residing at Elmhurst, Long Island, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in Bottle-Holders, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the Same.

This invention relates to devices for holding bottles, and particularly liquorl bottles, drinking water bottles and other bottles from which it is desired from time to time. to discharge a small portion of their contents; and the object thereof is to provide an improved holder for bottles of-this class which are so constructed as to permit of the tilting of a'bottle or bottles whenever desirable so as todischarge a portion of its contents, and which is provided with a hinged top or cover having means for closing the bottle or bottles in their upright position.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts ofmy improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure l is a front view of my improved bottle holder and showing two bottles mounted therein and with part of the construction broken away; and, Fig. 2 is a sectional Side view indicating the method of tilting a bottle.

In the practice of my invention, I provide a bottle holder, comprising, in the form of construction shown, a frame consisting of a base a, vertically arranged side members a2 and a top or cover a3 hinged at the back as shown at at. The frame is also provided with a top transverse yback piece a6 to which the top or cover a3 may be hinged, and said frame `is also provided with a bottom transv verse front piece a7. Fixed centrally in the frame is a standard and in the accompanying drawing my improved bottle holder frame is provided with means for holding two bottles, each of which` consists of a ring or band c with which are connected vertically arranged side members c2 and a vertical back member c3, and the lower ends of the side members c2 and back member c3 are bent inwardly and crossed as shown at C4 so as to form a support for the bottom of a bottle d passed -downwardly through the bottle may be ring or band c, as clearly shown in the drawing, and the ring or band c is pivoted in the top of the central standard Z1 as shown at b2 and in one of the side frame members a2 as shown at 3. l

One of the side members c2 of the bottle holder proper is extended upwardly to form an arm e provided at its upper end with a ring or loop e2, and with this construction a swung -forwardly and turned downwardly as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 by taking hold of the ring or loop e2, or of the neck of the bottle.

The back bottle yholder member c3 extends entirely across the bottom of the bottle when said bottle is in position, and the free' end thereof is bent upwardly, as shown at 05 to form a buffer which strikes the transverse .bottom frame member a7 when the bottle swings into the vertical position, and this buffer also serves to retain the bottle in the bottle holder member.

The top or cover a3 is providedl with suitably spaced bottle closure plugs or devices f composed of rubber, cork or any other suitable material and when the bottles are in their normal position down and-secured, the necks of the bottles will be closed by the closure devices f, as clearly shown in Fig. l, and said bottles will be secured in the frame. The top or cover a3 is also provided at one end thereof with a pawl g which may be spring actuated, or which may act by gravity, and which is adapted-.to engage a ycatch device g2 secured to the adjacent side frame member a2, and the said top or cover is also provided at the opposite end thereof with a lock It of any suitable kind or class and adapted to be operated by a key h2 passed through the corresponding side member a2 and, in the form of construction shown, the casing of the lock device 7L is secured in said frame member.

The swinging bottle holder members comprising the parts c, c2 and c3 are provided at the back thereof with screw-clamp devicesz which are passed inwardly through the parts c, and the top of the parts c3, and which are intended to bear on the bottles to hold them in the swinging holders when the bottles are tilted as shown in Fig. 2.

My improved bottle holder is not limited to the use in connection therewith of any particular number of bottles, but the said holder may be adapted for one or more bottles, and while I have shown and described and the cover is closed a particular framework as constituting the body portion of my improved bottle holder, my invention is not limited thereto and any suitable structure of thi-s class may be employed, and my invention is also not limited to any specific form of swinging bottle holding members; and changes in and modifications of the various details of construction herein shown and described may be made, within the scope of the appended Claim, without 'departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing, its advantages.
