IMPROVEMENT IN SUN-SHIELDS FOR HORSES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,208, datedOctober 24,1871.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HUGH D. MoGovERN, of Brooklyn, Kings county, State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Sun- Shields for Horses, of which the following is a specification l The nature of my improvement consists in the arrangement of a cap or elevated part on the top of the shield, into which a fan-wheel may be placed, by means of which a current of air is made to pass through an opening or large aperture in the front of said cap or elevated part upon the head of the horse, to render the same cool and comfortable While exposed to the heat of the sun.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I represents my improved shield placed on top of a horses head. Fig. II is a longitudinal section of the same.

B is a longitudinal half-circular cap or elevated part arranged on the top of the shield a l tion of the horses head to keep the same cool and protected from the heat of the sun.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The shield or horse-bonnet A, provided with an elevated part or cap, B, having a large open aperture, D, on the front, in combination with a fan-wheel, E, placed in the cap B, substantially as and for the purpose described.
