Be it known that l, FRANK M. lVoLFE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Bath-Tub Cover, of which the following is a specification.

The device forming the subject matter of this application is a cover adapted to be applied to a bath tub for the purpose of keeping the water in the bath tub hot, either while a bath is being taken, or while the bather is preparing for his ablution.

The invention aims to provide novel means for assembling a protecting sheet with the tub, and, specifically, the invention aims to improve the construction of the braces whereby the sheet is held on the tub.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this typewhich may be assembled readily with tubs of standard construetion.

It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the present invention appertains.

lVith the above and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the cletails of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 shows in bottom plan, a bath tub cover embodying the present invention; Fig. 2 is a transverse section of a bath tub, whereunto the structure forming the subject matter of this application has been applied; Fig. 3 is a fragmentalelevation, disclosing the outer face of one of the feet of the supports; and Fig. a is a View similar to Fig. 3, but showing the inner side of the structure delineated in Fig. 3.

In carrying out the present invention there is provided a flexible sheet 1 made of any desired material, such as cloth or a rubberized fabric.

The numeral 2 indicates a fastening means of any desired sort, whereby resilient, upwardly arched supports 3 are secured to the under face of the sheet 1. The supports 3 preferably are in the form of strips of metal, galvanized or treated otherwise so that they will not rust. The ends of the supports 3 are bent back upon themselves to form double-walled, reinforced shoulders 4: which extend in a substantially horizontal direction when the device is in use, the lower walls of the shoulders 4 being prolonged downwardly to form legs 5 terminating in laterally extended feet 6 provided upon their outer surfaces with resilient pads 7 which may be made of rubber, the outer surfaces of the pads 7 being equipped with longitudinally extended corrugations 8.

The numeral 9 designates a bath tub which may have at its upper edge, an outstanding bead 10.

In practical operation, the sheet 1 is placed over the bath tub 9 and the supports 3 are bound upwardly to a slight extent, so that the legs 5 and the feet 6 may be introduced between the side walls of the tub, the shoulders a of the supports 3 being adapted to rest on the bead 10. lVhen the supports 3 are released, the feet 6 will be pressed outwardly to the sides of the tub and will grip the same, the resilient rubber pads 7 and their corrugations 8 assisting the feet 6 in maintaining a firm hold on the side walls of the tub.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is 1. A bath tub cover comprising a sheet,

and a resilient strip constituting a support for the sheet, the strip including depending feet adapted to engage the inner wall of a tub, and outwardly extended shoulders adapted to rest on the upper edge of a tub, the strip being outwardly expansible to cause the feet to grip the inner wall of a tub, and being upwardly arched to dispose the ends of the strip at an acute angle to the shoulders, thereby to cause the weight of the sheet to enhance the grip of the feet.
