Be 1t known that we, ALEXANDER W.
HUNTER and Unseren C. Hows, citizens of the United States, residing at Vandergrift,
5in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain and Shade Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention contemplates an improved curtain and shade bracket and has as its primary object to provide a device of this character which may be readily mounted in position and which will be adjustable and consequently suited for a relatively large lield ot use.
The invention has-.as a further object to provide a bracket of this character adapted to support double draperies, but wherein one of said drapery supporting elements may, if desired, be eliminated so that the bracket may be used to support single draperies.
The invention has as a stillturther object to provide an improved. adjustable mounting for the shade roller as Well as to provide an improved detachable mounting lfor the drapery .supporting elements.

In the preferred embodiment of our inven tion, we employ coacting attaching brackets, one of whioh-is shown in detail in Fig. 3. This bracket is preferably formed from' a piece of resilient sheet metal and includes a body portion 10 from one extremity of which extends a laterally directed arm 11. Formed in opposite longitudinal edges ofthe arm 11 are series of spaced notches 12. The body portion 10 adjacent the upper extremity thereof is provided with a keyhole slot 13 and extending laterally from the forward -edge of the said body portion in spaced relation to the arm 11 is a second arm 14, the
arm 14 being disposed ina plane substantmlly at right angles to the arm 11..
Adapted'for detachable connection with the arm 14 is a. shade roller bracket 15 whichv 4 adapted to receive the adJacent terminal o a conventional type of 'shade roller.
It will now be observed that the bracket 15 is longitudinally adjustable upon the are.. 14 and a set screw 19 is provided for holding the said bracket at adjustment, the set screw engaging within a suitable screw threaded opening 20 formed in the body portion 16 of the bracket and being operable to engage the adjacent face of the arm 14. .Y
As best shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, a pair ofthe attaching brackets of the present invention are designed for connection to opposite longitudinal edges of a window casing conventionally shown at 21' with the body portions 10 of the said f the outer face of the window casi-ng to extend toward each other. and the'brackets 15 maybe adjusted upon the said' arms as previously described to receive a conventional type of shade roller 23. Mounted uponv the arms 11 of the attaching brackets isua curtain supporting element 24 which is lita-med of-telescopic sections. As will now be seen, the element 24 is adapted to receive drapcrie of any suitable character' which will be supported in spaced relation to the shade rollcc23. However, if desired, the clementv 24 tn ay be removed so that the brackets' may be employed in supporting the shade roller alone. Since the element 424 is longitudinally,adjustable, it is, of course, ada ted to 'be fitted to win dows of various wi ths.
In Figs-1 and 2 of the drawings, we have shown lan arrangement wherein an auxiliary drapery supporting Adement 27 is employed. This element isslso formed of telescopic sections-and is otherwise identical in construction with the element' 24. Detachably connecting the element 27 with the element 24 are auxiliary attaching brackets 28 one of which is shown in detail in Fig.
5 of the drawings. Each of these brackets is preferably 'Iormed from a piece of suit` able resilient sheet metal and includes a body portion which vis extended to provide an arm 29, while the body portion, at spaced points is provided with opposed lugs 30. One of the brackets 28 is connected to each inner-'terminal of. the -jelement 24 in the manner best shown in Fig. 2 of the draw-A e'lement and with thearms 29 extending to detachably receive the inner ends of the element 27. It will be noted that the brackets 28 are adapted to support the element 27 in spaced relation to the element 24 so that double draperies may bc suspended from `the said elements. The sections ofthe ele; 'ment 27 being telescopic` the-said element may be adjusted longitudinally to suit various windows in the same manner as the element 24. l

The body of the' bracket is provided with a. keyhole slot 34 by which it may be detaohably,l connected to'a window casing in the manner )reviously described relative'to the preferred form of the invention and is further provided with an arri-1185 receiving a shade roller bracket 36. It will be seen that this modified form of bracket provides an efficient arrangement for adjustably mounting the shade roller brackets.
