Patented July 18, 1916.
Application filed February 8, 1916. Serial No. 77,026.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, Louis S. HENDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Blairs, in the county of Fairfield, State of South Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Crib Attachments for Beds; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as wlll enable others skilled in the art'to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to crib attachments for beds.
The object of the invention resides in the provision of an attachment of the type named which can be easily associated with the side rail of a bed and which will be inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in use.
l/Vith the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of the attachment applied; Fig. 2, a plan view of same; Fig. 3, a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4, a section on the line 4 l of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings the improved crib attachment for beds is shown associated with the side rail of a bed, which latter is indicated at 10.
The improved attachment is shown as comprising a plurality of U-shaped strips 11 the arm connecting portions of which are mutually connected by bars 12 and 13. The ends of these bars are bent downwardly as at 14 and secured to the underside of each bar adjacent each end thereof is an angle piece 15 including an arm 16 disposed in parallel spaced relation to the downwardly bent end 14: adjacent thereto.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,
Corresp'onding arms of the strips 11 are mutually connected by bars 17 the outer ends of which are directed inwardly as at 18 and then outwardly as at 19. The outwardly directed ends 19 of said bars are recessed on their under sides as at 20 for a purpose that will presently appear. The outer side of the attachment is removable from the portion previously described and comprises leg members 21 connected by bars 22 and 23. p
In applying the attachment to the rail 10 the latter is engaged between the arms 16 and the downwardly bent ends 14 at the in? ner end of the bars 12 and 13. The outer side of the attachment is then applied by engaging the bar 22 in recesses 20 and the bar 23 between the arms 16 and the downwardly bent ends 14 at the outer ends of the bars 12 and 13. The application of the attachment is then complete and the manner of removing same Will be obvious.
What is claimed is A crib attachment for beds comprising a plurality of U-shaped strips disposed in spaced relation to each other, bars connecting the arm connecting portions of said strips, and having downwardly bent terminal portions, angle pieces secured to the under sides of said bars and including arms spaced from respective downwardly bent terminals of the bars, additional bars connecting the arms of the U- shaped strips having their outer ends projecting beyond the outermost strip and provided with recesses respectively in their bottom edges, and a removable outer portion comprising leg members and bars connecting same, said bars being disposed respectively in the recesses of the second named bars and between the outer terminals of the first named bars and the adjacent angle pieces.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signa- 'ture, in the presence of two witnesses.
