OSCAR P. HANSON, 0]? PLUM CIlITY, WISCONSIN.
JEWEL-HOLDER.
Application filed February 12, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OSCAR P. HANSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Plum City, in the county of Pierce and State of \Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Jewel-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in watch makers tools and consists in the provision of a device for holding a plurality of removable jewels of a watch while being washed and cleaned. By the provision of a tool of this nature, the watch maker may remove the balance jewels in one operation, thereby saving time to the workman, while each jewel may be placed or removed without disturbing the others.
My invention comprises a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a tool made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a handle having a T-shaped end B from which stationary fingers or jaws D project and are spaced apart, each finger forming a jaw of a pair of tweezers. Outside pivotal jaws, designated by letter E, are mounted upon the pivots F upon said T-shaped end and a spring H engages the handle ends of the two pivotal jaws and servesto hold the pivotal jaws in contact with the ends of the adja- Intermediate pivotal jaws,
copies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent.

designed by letter K, are mounted upon the pins N and engage the intermediate fixed jaws, while a spring 0 with angled ends O engages the handle ends of the inside jaws and serves to hold their free ends in contact with the intermediate fixed jaw. springs are held at their-longitudinal centers by means of a staple-shaped member '1. It will be noted that the handle ends of the inside pivotal jaws project beyond the others, offering a convenient means for the operator toengage the same when desired to operate the inside jaws independent of the other ones.
By the provision of a tool made in accordance with my invention, a watch maker Said may conveniently engage and hold the jewels of a watch in: one operation, thereby saving time to the workman and each jewel may be put into or removed without disturbing the others. The different pairs of jaws are spaced apart sufficiently so that any cleansing liquids in which the "jewels are washed may not be drawn together by capillary attraction.
What I claim to be new is 1. A compound jewel holder comprising a handle having a T-shaped end with fixed jaws projecting from one end thereof and spaced apart, a series of pivotal, springpressed jaws mounted upon said 'T-shaped end and having handle ends of difierent lengths, allowing the outer and inner jaws to be conveniently operated in pairs independent of each other.
2. A compoundjewel holder comprising a handle having a T-shaped end with fixed jaws projecting from one end thereof and spaced apart, pivotal jaws mounted upon said T-shaped end, a staple upon the handle, springs holding said staple upon the latter, the ends of said spring engaging said pivotal jaws.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
. OSCAR P. HANSON.
