DANIEL J. BARRETT, OF \VATER-BURY, CONNECTIGUT.
COMBINED WINDOW-SHADE BRACKET AND CURTAIN-ROD SUPPORT.
Application filed March 22, 1916.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I. liwxnn. J. SARRETI.
" a citizen of the l nitcd States, residing at \Vaterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut. have invented a new and useful Improve ient in Combined Window-Shade Brackets and Curtain-Rod, Supports; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon. to be a full, clear. and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application. and representl in Figure 1 a face view of a pair of window shade brackets and curtain rod supports honstructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 a side view of one of the de vices.
This invention relates to an improvement in combined window shade bracket and curtain rod support, the object being to provide brackets which may be secured to a window casing with minimum amount of damage to the casing, due to securing devices and to provide a support for tubular curtain rods haying bowed ends or goose necks: and the ii'ivention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly rccited in the claims.
in carrying out my invention. I form the window shade brackets from strips of metal 2 the upper ends 33 of which are turned rearward aild provided with downwardly pro jectin prongs 1- adapted to be driven into the top of the window ilirlllljl. At the lower end of the strips are portorations 3 for the passage ct nails or screws hy which the strips are rigidly held 'in place. 'lhrostrips are iiroi'idcd for each window and their innor edges are prcwided with window shade brackets U and '7 tormed integral with the plates and projecting outward at angles thereto, these brackets being tornied in the usual manner for SHPpOi'tlllg window shade rollers. The outer cd i'cs of the hrackets are formed with illllil'l'ill arms which Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 1 6., 1316.

project upward in the panic o. the plates 1- and then outward and upward therefrom so as to throw the upper ends 9 of the arms outward beyond the plane of the plates 2. and these upper ends are rolled or formed. with tubular bearings for the ends 10 of a tubular curtain rod 11. This curtain rod 11 may be telescoped as to be adjusted longitudinally. Preferably, and as shown, the tubular ends of the arms will he tapered so that the ends of the curtain rod will closely fit thereon. By setting the curved ends of the curtain rod over the tubular ends of the arms 8 they will be firmly held in place and not liable to become accidentally detached. The curtain rod support is placed in position at the same time the window brackets are secured in place. The combined window shade bracket and curtain rod support are formed from sheet metal and can be produced at very low cost for manufacture.
I claim 1. A combined window shade bracket and curtain rod support comprising plat-es It combined indow shade bracket and curtain rod support con'iprising pla turned inward at their upper ends and tori'ned with downwardly projectingprongs, said plates formed on one edge with out 'ardly projecting integral w Llow shad-a brackets, and at their opposite ed fes with uipvardly and outwardlii: i :iending arms, said arms provided at their outer ends with tapered tubular rodsnpports over which the ends of a curtain rod may pass.
