Description
A. C. CRIMMEL.
BRACKET. APPLICATION FILED APR.29, 1915.
Witnesses Attorneys ALVIE C. CRIMMEL, OF HARTFORD CITY, INDIANA.
BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 11, 1916.
Application filed April 29, 1915. Serial No. 24,778.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALvIE C. CRIMMEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hartford City, in the county of Blackford and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Bracket, of which the following is a specification. v
This invention relates to a bracket especially designed for use in supporting dispensing bins of that type used in connection with kitchen cabinets and like structures, one of the objects of the invention being to provide a bracket which is so constructed as to support readily a jar-like bin in either of several positions, said bracket being simple and durable in construction; easy to set up and being formed of but few parts so that it will not get out'of order.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown.
In said drawings: Figure 1 is an elevation of the bracket and showing a bin or container supported thereby. Fig. 2 is a planv view of the structure shown in Fig. 1, one of the positions of the container being indicated by dotted lines. Fig. 3 is an enlarged section online AB Fig. 1.
Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates an attaching plate having any suitable means, such as screws 2, for securing it to a supporting structure S. Extending outwardly from the upper and lower ends of this plate are ears 3 and 4 respectively, the ear 3 being provided with upwardly pressed portions 5 forming a concaved seat 6 therebetween, said upwardly pressed portions constituting cams. Openings 7 are formed in the ears 3 and 4, these openings being in vertical alinement so as to receive a pintle 8 extending downwardly at right angles from an arm 9 which is circular in cross section and is secured between the ends of a circular strap 10 forming a supporting ring. This ring is adapted to receive a bulk holder 11 which can be in the form of a glass container formed with an annular shoulder 12 designed to bear downwardly on the ring. The container may be provided with a suitable outlet at its bottom provided with a closure indicated generally at 13 and with another closure 14 mounted on the top thereof. i
It is to be understood that when the arm 9 is in its normal position it is resting on the seat 6, it being held centered thereon by the cams 5. When it is desired to move the container 11 out of its normal position it is merely necessary to press thereagainst with suflicient force to cause the arm 9 to ride over one or the other of the cams 5, where upon said arm will become seated on the ear 3 beyond one or the other of said cams, one of these positions being indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2. It will be apparent that when it is desired to remove the arm 9 from its support it is merely necessary to lift the pintle 8 out of the openings in the ears 3 and 4. Furthermore the container 11 can be easily detached simplyby lifting it out of the ring 10.
It will be noted by referring to the drawings that the bracket made up of the attaching plate 1 and the ears 3 and 4:, can be stamped out of a single piece of sheet metal thus greatly cheapening the cost of production.
A device such as herein described is especially useful in connection with kitchen cabinets for the reason that it occupies but little space, can be mounted at any desired elevation in the cabinet, and is durable, compact and efficient, the parts being readily separated for the purpose of cleaning them.
What is claimed is A device of the class described including a sheet metal attaching plate having its upper and lower end portions extended at right angles therefrom to form upper and tation within the apertures in the two ears my own, I have hereto afix'ed my signature and having itsdupper and portion belnt at in the presence of two witnesses. right angles an adapte to engage sai seat, and. a supporting ring secured to the upper ALVIE CRIMMEL' end portion of the pintle and mounted for Witnesses: movement therewith. J. FRASH,
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as E. F. WILLMAN.
