IMPROVEMENT IN BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117 ,882, dated August 8, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, GEORGE HAVELL, of Newark, in the county of Essex and in the State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Buckles 5 and do hereby declare that the following is a full7 clear, and exact description thereof, reference being' had to the Y accompanying dra-wing and to the letters oi' reference marked thereon making' a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement ofthe center or tongue ot a buckle and the mode of fastening it to the frame.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring' to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of the entire buckle. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section ofthe same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view ofthe center or tongue.

Or, in other words, the tongue is stamped so as to form a straight line of alternate convex and concave surfaces, open at the ends for the passage of a rod, e, said rod passing through the sides of the frame A, thus hinging the tongue or center to the frame.
Havin g thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
