WATCH-BOW MOUNTING.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS S. HANSON, a
citizen of the United States, and a resident of Eureka, in the county of Lincoln and State of Montana, have invented a new and Improved lVatch-Bow Mounting, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
- My invention has for its object to provide a watch bow mounting in which the bow has orifices in alinement with each other and through which pins extend for insertion in recesses at the sides of a watch pendant, the pins being held against removal by frictional engagement with the pendant at the recesses therein.
Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of my invention is disclosed.
In the drawings similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the views in which Figure 1 is a side elevation showing a watch pendant with a bow attached thereto by my improved mounting, parts being broken away to illustrate the construction; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a view showing the bow partially in section with the pins which are used for attaching the bow to the pendant.
There has always been difficulty in providing a simple and inexpensive hinge mounting for a watch bow. Many different mountings have been made use of, but I have found none of them satisfactory. In some cases the bow is held more or less rigid relatively to the pendant, and in other cases where screws are employed the movement of the bow tends to free the screws unless additional expense is incurred to provide means to prevent this.
In my invention a bow 5 has arms 6 which are provided with orifices 7 in alinement with each other through which pins 8 may be inserted, these pins passing through the orifices 7 and into the recesses 10 in the pendant 9, the axes of the recesses 10 being in alinement and being also in alinement with Specification of Letters Patent.

the axes of the orifices 7 The pins 8 are so constructed that their inner ends 11 will be frictionally held in the recesses 10 and to accomplish this, I may construct the ends 11 of the pins 8 of sorter metal than the metal which is used in the construction of the body of the said pins, so that when the pin 8 'is struck it will serve to expand the inner ends 11 of the pins so that they may obtain a tight grip on the pendant 9 at the sides of its recesses 10.
It will be seen that while the construction is very simple and inexpensive, the pendant will be rotatably mounted as desired and as the arms 6 of the bow 5 are free to rotate on the pins 8, a very desirable construction is furnished. If desired, the pins 8 may be fastened with solder.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
In combination with a watch pendant having two recesses in alinement with each other and extending through opposite sides of the pendant, the inner ends of the recesses being closed, a bow having two terminals for disposal at the two outer sides of the pendant provided with orifices registering with the recesses in the pendant, and two removable pins of the same diameter substantially from end to end, for extending each through an orifice in the bow and into a recess in the pendant and against the closed end of the recess, the pins being provided with heads for engaging the terminals of the bow, and having frictional engagement with the watch pendant which may be increased by the striking of the pins against the closed ends of the recesses to prevent ready removal of the pins, and permitting the movement of the bow relatively to the pendant with the pins as its axis.
