Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT P. J. CAMP- BELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Gas-Heaters, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a heater designed to be applied to the ordinary gasburner tube and to support a small article which it is desired to heat. 7 V
The main object of the present invention is the provision of a heater in which the gas is compelled to travel a somewhat lengthy path between its inlet to the heater to the point of ignition, with said path within the heat zone from the flame of the heater, whereby a comparatively perfect combustion is insured.

With reference to the accompanying drawings, it will be seen that the improved heater comprises a base 1 of hollow type and from which radiate a series of burner tubes 2 perforated at appropriate intervals on their upper sides to provide for the ignition of the gas from said tubes. The base is provided with a depending nipple 8 interiorly threaded for connectionwith the ordinary threaded terminal of the gas bracket or the like, the nipple being in open communication with a tube 4: rising from the base and wholly closed against the base within the plane of the latter. The base is provided with upstanding nipple 5 interiorly threaded'for the reception of a short length of pipe 6 which bythis connection with the nipple 5 incloses the tllbg 4. 'The upper end of the pipe 6, which terminates below the open upper end of the tube 4 is designed to be closed by a removable cap 7, the bore of which extends but partly through the cap to permit said cap to seal gas passing through the nipple 3 rises through the tube a and through the open upper end of the latter, returning between said tube and the pipe 6 and the base from which it is distributed to the burner tubes 2 for ignition. The flame from the tubes heats the support 11 or the utensil resting thereon.
It will be noted that the gas is compelled to travel a somewhat lengthy path lengthwise and beyond the tube 4 and lengthwise and within the pipe 6 prior to its reaching the ignition point, and that as this path of travel is within the heat zone from the burner tubes, the gas is thoroughly heated prior to ignition, and hence a more perfect combustion is obtained with corresponding advantages and results for the particular.

What is claimed is A heater comprising a hollow base formed with a chamber, a series of burner tubes connected with the base and'having open communication with the chamber, a ipe .removably connected to the base above the chamber and in open communication with the chamber, said base being formed below the chamber with a threaded socket, a tube having open communication with the socket passing through the chamber and the pipe and closed against both throughout its length, the upper end of the tube opening above the upper end of the pipe, and a plate supporting element secured to the pipe and closing the upper end of the latter.
