CLYDE BAUGH, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO WILLIAM L. MOORE, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
ONE-PIECE BOX.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. aa, i916.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CLYDE BAUGH, a citi zen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the county'of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in One-Piece Boxes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved one piece box especially adapted to be made of paper or other suitable material and for use as a suit box and for packing other material, the object of the invention being to provide an improved box of this character which is extremely simple and cheap and which is made from a single piece of material, and is adapted to be readily set up from the blank and vto be closed and opened.
The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a one piece suit box constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same partly open. Figs. 2-3 are sectional views of the same. Fig. 4 is a plan of the blank from which the box is made. Figs. 5 6 are detail perspective views. i
The bottom 1 and top 2 have a common connecting wall 3 at the back, folded from the bottom on the line 4 and from the top on the line 5. Slits 6-7 extend frCm the ends of the fold lines 4 5 to the sides of the blank from which the box is formed, so that flaps 8 are formed at the ends of the back wall and which are bent therefrom on the fold lines 9. Each of these flaps has a slit 10 and has a tongue 11 at its lower outer corners. The botto-m has a front wall 12 bent therefrom on a fold line 13, flaps 14 which are similar to the flaps 8 being bent from the front wall on the fold lines 15 and being each provided with a slit 16 and a tongue 17. End walls 18 are bent from the bottom on fold lines 19 each end wall having a flap 20 at its outer edge bentand doubled yinwardly thereon on a fold line 21, said flaps have slits 22 for the reception of the tongues 17 when the box is set up. The top is provided also with end walls 23 bent therefrom 0n fold lines 24 and similar to the end walls 18, said end walls 23 being provided with flaps 25 inturned thereon on fold lines 26 and provided with slits 27 for the reception of the tongues 11 of the back flaps 8 and also provided with slits 28. Also formed with the top is a front wall 29 identical in construction with the front wall 12 of the bottom, bent from the top on the fold line 30 and provided at its ends with flaps 31 each of which has a split 32 and also has, at its outer corner a tongue 33. Said tongues 33 are for engagement with the slits 28 of the aps 25.
rIhe blank from which the box is formed and which is shown in Fig. 4, is of oblong rectangular form and is uncut excepting to form the. slits 6-7 between the end walls 18-23, slits 34 between the end walls 18 and the front corner ilaps 14 of the bottom slits 35 between the end walls 23 of the top and the front corner flaps 31 of the topand the slits 16-10-22-27-28-32 Having thus described my invention, I claim A one piece suit or packing case made from an oblong rectangular blank and comprising a bottom, a top, and a common rear wall connecting the bottom and top, said rear wall having end flaps, said bottom wall having a front wall provided with end flaps and also having side walls, said top also having a front wall provided with end flaps and also having end walls, the side walls of the top and bottom each having an inturned flap provided with slits, and the first named flaps of the back and front walls being arranged between said side walls and said inturned flaps thereof and being formed with tongues to engage the said slits.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CLYDE BAUGII.
