IMPROVEMENT IN NEEDLE AND TOOL-HOLDERS FOR WORK-TABLES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,354, dated July 25, 1871; antedat-ed July 7, 1871..

To all whom fit may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY H. WEscoTT, of Portland, in the county of Cumberland and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful Needle and Tool-Holder for VVork-Table; and I do hereby declare the following to -be a full, clear, and exact description of the sa1ne,reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in Which-` I `igure lis a top plan of the drawer. Fig. 2 is a detail of the device for holding spools.

a a show the sides and ends ofthe drawer, which are of common construction. Upon the bottom of the drawer is placed a thin plate of wood or metal, b b. Upon this plate, and at the front of the drawer, is xed the box c c, the walls of which are of common form except that the lid at the back is provided with spring d, which is for the purpose of throwing` open the cover when it is released by the spring-catch e, which connes it when shut. The box is provided with the plate j' j', in which are holes to receive needles of various sizes, each row of holes being appropriated to a size and numbered accordingly. The round hole z' is to hold needles broken or worn out. N ext to the plate f is the long and nar- 'the throat-plate, &c.

In the plate b b, and back of the box, is a hole for the feed-screw, shown at m. The rest of the plate b b is provided with the pins u n, the construction of which is shown at Fig. 2, o being the point of the pin and p a spring placed under the end of the pin. This spring holds the pin in either a vertical or horizontal position, the latter being the position of the pin when not in use. The pins are designed to hold spools, and when in use are raised to a vertical position and the spool is placed upon them.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is4
