SALVATORE BERTONA, OF' BAY POND, NETV YORK."
SHOE-LACE COVER.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SALVATORE BERTONA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bay Pond, in the county of Franklin and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe-Lace Covers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in shoe lace covers, and it is an object of the invention to provide a device of this general character having novel and improved means whereby it may be conveniently and effectivelyapplied in operative position.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved shoe lace cover whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device is rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of the invention will be carefully defined in the appended claims.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figurel is a view in perspective of a shoe illustrating an embodiment of my invention applied thereto; Fig. 2 is a View in elevation of my improved cover as herein disclosed; and Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view illustrating my device as herein embodied when applied upon the shoe.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings, S denotes a lace shoe of conventional style including the lace hooks 7t and with which my improved cover is adapted to be operatively engaged. As herein disclosed, myimproved cover comprises a flexible body 1 adapted to be positioned on the shoe S immediately over the opening in the front thereof and having secured to its'under face the longitudinal series of eyes 2 adapted to be engaged with the hooks it whereby the body 1 is maintained in applied position. It is also to be observed that the lower extremity of the body 1 is provided with the Serial No. 53,587.
. permanently secured to the shoe.
The upper extremity of the body 1 is provided at one side with a laterally disposed Specification of Letters latent. Patented Feb, 15, 1916.
Application filed October 1, 1915. V
strap 4 adapted to encircle the ankle, the free extremity of said strap coacting with the buckle 5 carried by the laterally disposed tab 6 carried by the upper extremity of the body 1 and disposed in a direction opposite to the strap 4.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a shoe lace cover constructedv in accordance with my invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without material departure from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice.
I claim:
1. The combination with a shoe having a lacing opening in its upper and anchoring means on the upper adjacent the edges of said opening, of a shoe lace cover comprising a flexible body adapted to be positioned said body being provided with openings for the passage of a shoe lace, and means carried by the under face of said body for detachable engagement with the anchoring means on the upper.
2. The combination with a shoe having a lacing opening in its upper and lacing hooks on the upper adjacent the edges of said opening, of a shoe lace cover comprising a flexible body adapted to be positioned over said opening, the lower extremity of said body being provided with openings for the pas sage of a shoe lace, and means carried by the under face of said body for detachable engagement with said hooks.
3. The combination with a shoe having a lacing opening in its upper and lacing hooks on the upper adjacent the edges of said open- 85 over said opening, the lower extremity of ing, of a shoe lace cover comprising a flexible body adapted to be positioned over said opening, the 'loWer extremity ofsaid body being provided with openings for the passage of a shoe lace, and eye members carried by the under face of said bodyfor detachable engagement with said hooks.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my SALVATORE BERTONA;
