IMPROVEMENT IN CHURNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,070, dated July 18, 1871.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE GRooM, of Brock ville, county of Leeds, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented an Improved Churn; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making` part of this specification- Figure l being a central vertical section of a churn constructed with my improvement; Fig. 2, a horizontal section through the dasher.
Like letters designate corresponding parts in both figures.
Let A represent the body of a flasher-churn, and a its cover. To the top of the churn-body is attached an uprightV standard, B, at one side,
and this has an arm, b, projecting from its upperend inward over the center of the churn. The
dasher-rod C is suspended from the arm b by a simplest form, is composed of two cross-pieces of wood, say two inches square. In the ends of these pieces holes are bored, say an inch in diameter, and to the depth of three or four inches, more or less. Into each of these holes is placed a weight, j', of lead or iron, about a pound in weight, for a churn of ordinary size. 'lhe open end of each hole is then tightly stopped with a specified.
