The bottom walls of the said bin compartments B are inclined slightly downward from the front wall of the case A to the backwall thereof, as shown, for an important purpose hereinafter set forth.

serve the additional function of closing the forward end of the compartment space below the `bottom of the bin so as to exclude dust, @og-therefrom. lt will also be observed by comparison of Figs. l, 2 and '3, that the bin `is provided at its underside with shoesl-l,

`preferably of metal, which are fixed thereto in position to bear and move forward and `rearward on ithe rollers E, and in that way ease the movements of the bin and prevent wear thereof. The said shoes H Aarepro- 'vided at their A,rear ends with depending portionsI. These depending portions l serve the important .purpose of bringing `up `against the rollers E after the manner shown by dotted lines in Fig. l, and in that way stop the lower portion of the bin in the dotted line position. It will also be noticed here that when the bin is forcibly drawn outward, the depending shoe portions I bring up against the rollers E and thereby take wear oif of and prolong the usefulness of the ma]l or portions of the bin and case which are generally made of wood. The bottom wall of the bin, when the bin is closed, rests parallel with Vthe bottom wall of the bin compartment, and hence is, together with the shoes H, slightly inclined downward from the front of the case toward the rear thereof. From this it follows that to open the bin it is simply necessary to draw the bin outward until the depending portions I of the shoes H bring up against the antifriction rollers E to stop theoutward movement of the lower portion of the bin. At this time the portion of the bin in front of the rollers E will be heavier than the bin portion in rear of said rollers, and hence the bin will gravitate or swing downward to the fully opened position shown by dotted lines. To close the bin it is simply necessary to swing the forward portion of the bin upward from the dotted line position whereupon the bin as a whole will, by reason of gravity, slide downward and inward to the fully closed position until it is stopped by the extension @bringing up against the front side of the stop portion D, and the lower extension Z abutting against the lower corner of the front opening of the bin compartment.

It will be gathered from the foregoing that by slightly tipping the top of the bin the `center of gravity is brought forward over the friction rollers, forming a lower support for the bin, and the bin easily comes out. On the other hand, when the front of the bin is raised slightly, it slides by gravity back into its place by reason of its inclined bottom.

Having described our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:

The combination of a case having a bin compartment that yis open at its frontand is provided with a. stop above said opening and is also provided with a bottom wall; a horizontal anti-friction roller disposed transversely of the compartment and supported sufficiently in rear of the lower portion of the front opening ot' the compart ment as to be near the vertical line passing through the center of gravity of the bin; a deep but short vertically-swinging and sliding bin having a stop below the top of the friction roller resting against the front of the case so that when the top of the bin is tilted outwardly it will move around the stop as a pivot and the bin will be bodily moved outwardly until the center Vof gravity is approximately above the roller, the' bin having a bottom which when the bin is closed extends from .the front to the rear of the bin in a downwardly inclined position in the bin compartment, and also having means witnesses.
