TOOTH-CLEANER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 18, 191
Application filed October 13, 1914. Serial No. 86 6/190.
following to be a full, clear, and exact de-' scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to tooth cleaners, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a tooth cleaner in the form of a brush or similar device connected to a flexible finger stall, so that the brush the mouth and carried flexed or bent to give the to the cleaner.
Another object ofthe invention is to provide a flexible tooth cleaner which can be inserted in the mouth by the finger, and moved to clean the teeth by an up and down movement or by a circular movement, said cleaner being of simple construction and of inexpensive manufacture.
The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,
-.,..Figure 1- is a side elevation of one form of tooth cleaner made in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a view of another form of device connected to the finger of the user, and shown when the 'finger is bent to curve the cleaner. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the same, and Fig. 4 is a rear end of the device shown in Fig. 1.
It will be understood that there forms of the device that need not trated for a full vention.
Referring. to the drawing, the numeral 1 esignates an elastic finger stall or cot, adapted to be engaged by thefirst joint of the finger, and as shown in Fig. 1, 2 indicating the middle joint of the finger. Got 1 is connected to a suitable flexible base. 3, said base having bristles or other cleaning elements 4 connected thereto. As shown in are many BRANDEN- finger and is be illus understanding of the in- Fig. 1, a split ring 5 is connected to the base at a suitable distance from the second joint of the finger to hold the cot or stall firmly in place. i
As shown in Fig. 2, the cot or finger stall 1 is extended beyond the joint 2 of the provided with a reinforcing band 5 at its open end. The base or brush back 3 is flexible and the cleaning element 4 ii shown as cur-ved in this figure to fit the teet From the foregoing it will be obvious that I acleaner for teeth made in accordance with this invention may be readily slipped onto the finger of the user and suitable denti-- frice be used and the brush or cleaning element may be moved up and down or vertically on the teeth as well as across the teeth, if desired. One of the advantages of this construction resides in the fact that the finger is more readily controlled by the will of the operator than a stiff handled brush, and will find the places where it is desired to clean the teeth better than a handle. The device can be manufactured at a very reasonable cost and should meet with favor by the public.
Various changes in the details. of construction may be resorted to without departingfrom the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claim.
What is claimed is A tooth cleaner comprising a flexible strip, an elastic cot or finger stallmounted upon one end of said strip, a split ring upon the opposite end of said strip, said flexible strip adapted to lie along the under side of the finger, two sets of bristles mounted upon the outer surface of said flexible strip and being spaced apart to permit flexure of the strip between the sets of bristles and at a point approximately opposite the middle joint of the forefinger when in position for use.
In testimony whereof I afiix in presence of two witnesses.
