ELECTRICALLY-OPERATED SAW.
' Specification'of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 4, 1916.
Application filed April 14', '1915. Serial No. 21,398.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK KAzLoW, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at the city of Schenectady, in the county of Schenectady and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electrically-Operated Saws, of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to means for cutting meat, and the object of my invention is to provide an electrically-operated saw, with means for bringing it in contact with the meat to be cut and holding it from lateral displacement during its operation; together with such other elements and combinations as are hereinafter more particularly set forth and claimed.
I accomplish these objects by means of the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is an end elevation.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The saw, A, is mounted on a shaft, B, which is rotated by the electric motor, C.
The motor and shaft are connected to the strap, D, by means of the straps, d, (Z, curved to receive and hold the shaft, B, and the hub, b, of the motor, C, and which straps, (Z, (Z, are secured by the rivets, j, to the metallic strips, J and K. The strap, D, is secured to a cable, E, the cable passing over the sheaves, F, G, and having at its end a counter-balancing weight, H. The metallic strips, J and K, are united forming ahandle, L, at one end, andat their opposite ends are bent at right angles forming the standards, N and 0, extending to the block or table upon which the meat to be operated upon is resting. The electric wires, P and Q, connect the motor, 0, with the source of electricity, not shown.
The operation of my invention is as follows :A piece of meat is placed on the table or block, R, and the standards, N and O, of the metallic strips are placed in such position on the block that by the operator pressing on the handle, L, in such a manner as to force the standards, N and O, securely in connection with the block or table, the saw is caused to connect with and cut the meat without wabbling, or lateral deviation of the saw, thus insuring a rapid, direct and clean cut. a
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
vThe combination of a saw; a motor connected with and adapted to rotate the saw; suspended means for suspending the saw andmotor; means for guiding and holding I the saw against lateral movement when in operation, comprising two metallic strips between which the saw rotates, each of said strips; provided with a standard adapted to rest on a table; said strips at their ends opposite the standards adapted to be directed for' causing the holding of the saw against lateral displacement when in operation.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature. 7 I
