2 '0 allwhom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE V. BRA'rzEL, a citizen of the United States, and a, resident of Hebron, in the county. of Morton and State of North Dakota, have invented a new and Improved WV indow -.Button, of. which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates to a device for fastening a storm window or a window screen in a window frame, and .more particularly relates to a device for the indicated purpose in which is included a box like body adapted to be pivotally mounted on a window frame to be turned to a position to overlie the window screen or storm window, the body having relatively yielding top and bottom members, there being a cam lever arranged to act on the separable members to cause the same to'tightly press against the screen or storm window.

The invention will be more particularly explained in the specific description following.

Referring more particularly to Figs. 1 to 5, the device includes a box-like body formed of sheet metal, said body presenting a fiat base 10 and a front member 11 integral with the base 10 and joiningthe same by an end member 12. The base 10 and front plate 11 have alined screw holes therein to receive a fastening screw or the like 13, whereby to secure the device to a frame B in position to turn an end thereof over a storm window or screen A. The hole 11 in the plate 11 for receiving the screw 13 preferably presents a counter-sink, as best shown in Fig. 5.

posite the member 12, and adj acent to said free end a cam lever 1A is mounted tobe turned to position against the front plate ll or turned through, an angle of approximately ninety degrees' The said lever is bent inwardly as at 15 and then return bent as' at l G, the extreme end being rolled and extending laterally to present trunnions 17 which are received in bearings 11 in the side flanges 11, said side flanges being bent in.- wardly from the plate 11 in the example shown. The bend M joining the members 15, 16, constitutes in effect a cam when the lever 14 is swung on the trunnions 17 By the described construction, when the device is turned about the screw 13 to the position in Figs. 1 and 2, that end of the device to which the lever 1A is pivoted will overlie the storm window or screen A, and the lever having been swung against the plate 11, the bend 14 acting as a cam, will contact with the base plate 10, giving relative separating movements to the plates 10, 11, and thereby exerting pressure against the screen or storm window, A to hold the same firmly in position. On the other hand, when the lever 1-1 is turned through an angle of ninety degrees, the pressure between the plates 10, 11, will be relieved and the body 10, 11, may be freely turned about its screw 13. It is to be understood that a number of the buttons will be employed on the window in practice.

In the form shown in Figs. 6 to 10, the box-like body presents a bottom plate 20 and a top plate 21, integral with the base plate at one end at the bend 20. A screw 23 secures the device to a frame B in the same manner as described with! respect to the screw 13, the hole in the plate 21 to receive the screw 23 presenting a counter sink, as shown best in Fig. 9 and indicated by the character 21*. A lever24 is pivoted to the free end of the front plate 21, said plate having side flanges 21 integral therewith receiving the fulcrum pin 25 of said lever. Adjacent to the fulcrum of the lever the same is formed with a toe 2 1 acting as a cam, in the same manner as the bend 1 1*. The plate 21 is formed with a longitudinal corrugation 26 for strength, there being a similar corrugation 27 formed in the lever 24c.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as newand desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

l. A window button including a box-like body presenting a base plate and a front plate integral therewith at one end, said plates being free at the opposite ends and there being alined holes in the saidplates to plate to effect a separating movement of the plates to give a binding action to said base plate.

2. A window button comprising a body having means whereby to pivotally mount the same on a frame and project an end thereof over a member to be secured, the

said body presenting separable resilient -members, and a lever fulcrumed to one of said separable members of the body and adapted when turned on its pivot to bear against the other member to give a separating movement to'said members.
