To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LOUIS K. GIBBS, acitizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mailing Cards'or Folders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to mailing cards or folders, and the primary object of'my invention is to provide simple and effective means for safely transmitting a pictorial leaflet or illustrated pamphlet by mail, with one of the pictures or illustrations visible, whereby the folder will have the appearance of a framed picture card.

Another object of my invention is to furnish a mailing folder with a pictorial leaflet and novel means, as hereinafter set forth, for holding the leaflet in various positions, thus permitting of a desired picture being exposed by the folder.

A further object of my invention is to provide an inexpensive mailing card that possesses all of the prerequisites of first class mailing matter, and it is in this connection, that the device can be used as a souvenir or for advertising purposes.

The above and other objects are attained by a construction that will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the preferred form of folder, showing the same in an open position; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a simplified folder in an open position; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a folder showing a leaflet in position; Fig. 4 is a perillustrating a slight modification of the invention; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the folder partially closed, and Fig. 6 is a similar view, illustrating a folder completely closed and ready for mailing.

A folder in accordance with this invention is made of cardboard, paperoid or other strong and durable, flexible material and comprises a rectangular body 1 having 7 a side flap 2 adapted to be folded upon the dash line 3 into parallel registration with the body 1. The side flap 2 has a rectangular opening or window 4:, thus imparting to flap 2 is folded upon the end flaps 5. In

some instances, the end flaps 5 can be dispensed with and folders without such flaps are shown in Figs. 2 and 4.

As illustratedin Fig. 1, the body 1 has tabs or tongues 8 and 9, the former being formed integral with the side edge of the body 1, intermediate the ends thereof and opposite the side flap 2, while the latter tab or tongue has an end thereof pasted or otherwise secured to the inner side of the body. The free end of the tab or tongue 9 is foldable upon the secured end thereof, and in some instances, the tabs or tongues 8 and 9 can be formed from a single piece or strip of material 10 pasted or otherwise secured to the inner side of the body 1, as best shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The tabs or tongues 8 and 9 are employed for preventing accidental displacement of a foldable leaflet 11. This leaflet is preferably made of a single piece of material, as paper, and one half of the leaflet is foldable into parallel registration with the other half. At the fold of said leaflet is a slit or slot 12 adapted to receive either of the tabs or tongues 8 and 9 and with pictures upon both sides of the leaflet, it is possible to fold and position the leaflet whereby either picture will be visible through the opening 4 of the side flap 2 when said flap is folded upon the leaflet. This isonly true when the end flaps 5 are dispensed with or else folded upon the body 1 with the leaflet upon the flaps 5, this arrangement of parts being resorted to after the folder has been received and it is desired to expose one of the pictures of the leaflet,
