CREDIT FILING SYSTEM.
Application led August 2, 1913.
T0 all whom t may concern.'
Be it known thatl, JOHN HABEIN, a citi- Zen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Kenosha, county of Kenosha, and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Credit Filing Systems, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in filing systems or cases for keeping credit accounts, and has for its object the production of a system or apparatus of this character which will be ofimproved construction, one which will eliminate the expenditure of considerable time and labor which is now employed in the keeping of books in credit accounts, and further a construction which will be durable and economical.
lVith these objects in view, my invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming ay part of this specification, and in which,
Figure 1 is a side elevation partly in 'section of a credit filing device embodying my invention, Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the device, Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the holders of the device detached, and Fig. 4, is a perspective View of one of the partition members of the device detached.
lThe preferred form of construction as illustra-ted in the accompanying" drawings comprises a rectangular case 1 open at its upper side. Said case is provided with a suitable hinged lid or cover 2 with which cooperates a suitable lock 3 for securing the same in closed position, a slotted link 4 co operating with said cover for supporting the same in open position.
The interior of the case 1 is divided by a medial longitudinally extending partition into two similar compartments, the outer or lateral walls of said compartments being lined with metallic sheets of lining 6. Provided at the upper edges of the partition 5 and lining' are inwardly extending flanges 7 adapted for service in the capacity hereinafter described.
Arranged in each of the compartments of the case 1 is a plurality of holders each of which is adapted, when the device is in use, to support or hold the order or credit Specification of Letters latent.

slips or sheetsV of a customer carrying a.
credit account with the ,house or concern using'the device. Each of said holders comprises a flat rectangular body 8 formed preferably of sheet metal at the lateral edges of which are provided forwardly and inwardly turned flanges 9. At the lower edge of each of said holders is provided a forwardly projecting flange 10 from the outer edge of which extends an upwardly projecting ear 10', and at the upper edge of said holder is provided a forwardly and downwardly projecting ear or retainer member 11. The arrangement is such that each of the holders will be formed with a shallow recess or compartment at its front side for the reception of the order or credit slips 12, as clearly shown in the several views, the construction being such that the upper portion of the top or foremost slip tio will be exposed to view. Also, with this ar ,j
rangement, it will be seen that slips may be readily and expeditiously inserted or removed from a holder by simply buckling the same in order to engage or disengage the upper edge thereof with or from theretainer member 11.
Provided at the lower edge of each of the holders are laterally projecting ears 13 which serve to releasably lock the holders to the case 1 but which permit of partial removal thereof, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, said ears cooperating with the {ianges 7, as will be readily understood. Complete release or removal of a holdermay be effected-by turning the same in a horizontal plane so as to positionV the same obliquely in the corresponding compartment of the case since by this operation the ears 18 will disengage the flanges 7 so as to permit of the desired detachment of the holder. The reverse operation is of course resorted to in inserting the holder in position.
Provided at the upper edge of each of the holders is an extension 14 which is bent into triangular form in cross section and provided with a depressed or inwardly punched portion 15 at its upper side for supporting an index member or name card 15 as shown in Fig. 2, the index member or name card when secured in position being supported upon the depressed portion 15 with the ends ofsaidmember or card projecting under the portions 14k. With this arrangement the index member or name card will be positioned so as to be readily observed, thereby
