LINE-HOLDING ATTACHMENT FOR HARNESS-SADDLES.
Application filed October 23, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEE D11 TOUR, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Guide Rock, in the county of Webster, State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Line-Holding Attaclnnents for Harness-Saddles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to improvements in line holding attachments for harness saddles, and has for its object to so construct a device of this character that the same can be easily and quickly attached to the usual terret post.
A further object of the invention is to so construct an attachment of this type that when the same is in place, the lines may be easily and quickly engaged therewith after the team is unhitched so that the line will not be trampled on.
With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of a harness saddle showing the attachment in place thereon. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the attachment removed.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the usual harness saddle having mounted thereon in the usual manner the terrets 2, and to one of which the attachment is connected.
The attachment consists of a split ring 3, the resultant ends 4: thereof being arranged Specification of Letters Patent.

in parallel spaced relation, and are provided with perforations 5 for receiving the bolt 6. The attachment further consists of a clip 7 which comprises a circular clamp 8 having the spaced parallel arms 9, said arms being provided with perforations 10 which are engaged by the bolt 6 when the same are disposed between the ends 4 of the ring 3.
It will be of course understood that the ring 3 and clip 7 are formed from metal, which contains sufiicient resiliency to cause the clamp 8 to firmly bind the terret'post 11 when the bolt 6 is manipulated, which causes the ends 4:, in their movement toward each other to move the arms 9 to also move toward each other, thus firmly clamping the device to the terret post.
After the team has been unhitched the lines 12 are folded and passed through the ring 3, thus holding the same firmly and preventing them from dragging on the ground.
What is claimed is In a rein holder, the combination with a terret ring including a shank, of an open loop adapted to encircle the shank of the terret, the terminals of said loop extending outwardly in spaced relation, and having registering apertures therein, a relatively larger open loop having outwardly extending bearing portions with registering apertures therein, and a bolt passing through the apertures in the said loops and arranged to detachably and pivotally secure the same together.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
LEE DE TOUR.
