IMPROVEMENT IN SPRING BED-BOTTOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,250, dated June 20, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN L. WRIGHT, of Sterling, in the county of Whitesides and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in SpringBed-Bottoms; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and. exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a spring bedbottom, as will be hereinafter more fully set In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I-will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a side view, and Fig. 2 a bottom view of one bed-slat with springs attached.
A represents the side rails of the bedstead, in which are secured the cross-bars B B, which form rests for the coil-springs O 0. Each of said springs is made of one piece of spring wire bent in the center, as shown in Fig. 2, so as to placing the springs in this manner is that,
when the greater pressure comes upon the bedbottom, the pressure is directly downward, instead of the constant tendency to turn over the rest when the springs enter on top. The centers of the springs O O are placed in metal clips d d on the under side of the slats D, and held in said clips by the springs e c.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the cross-bars or rests B B, springs O O, slats D D, clips d d, and springs e c, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
