FLORENCE B. WOLFER AND HARRY SAMPSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SAD-IRON STAND.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 1, 1912, Serial No. 680,997. Renewed April 14, 1915. Serial No. 21,446.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, FLORENCE B. WOL- FER and HARRY SAMPSON, citizens of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sad-Iron Stands, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in a combined stand and waxer for sad irons and the object of the invention is to provide a stand so constructed, that a sad iron when rubbed thereon, will be cleaned andpolished.
With the above and other objects in view, we have invented the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the stand; and, Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on the line AA of Fig. 1.
Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the specification and in the views of the drawings, in which-- 1 indicates a metal plate, having its-edges 2 rolled over a wire 3, which is adapted to project outwardly of said plate and form a U-shaped handle 4. This plate is filled with a coiled rope 6 of asbestos which has been previously treated with pumice stone and the interstices 5 formed between the coiled rope are filled in with wax and pumice stone 5.
By rubbing a sad iron upon this stand any 1 foreign matter which may have collected thereon will be removed, by the action of the pumice stone contained in the stand, and the wax also contained in the stand will render the ironing surface polished. When all the wax contained in the stand has been used, a fresh supply can be deposited therein by simplying laying a cake of wax upon the stand and applying a hot iron thereto. The iron will melt the wax so that it will fill in the crevices between the coils of the rope.
wax adapted to be contained within the pan.
and surround the rope to polish the bottom of a sad iron when the device is in use.
' In testimony whereof we afiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
