. Be it known that I, EARL R. GRIBBEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Polk, in the county of Ashland and State of 5" Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cleaning Materials, of which the following is aspecification.
The object of this invention is to produce a cloth or fabric, body designed to be rubbed against metal surfaces for cleaning the same.
The object ofthe invention is to a metal cleaning sheet made up 0 a soft fieecy fiberand steel fiber body which may be and preferably is impregnated with oil, and wherein the metal fiber acting on the article to be cleaned will remove rust, dirt and irre ar surfaces therefrom, while the textile fiber will polish the said surface. The soft, fleecy, textile fiber 1 of my-improved cleaning sheet is preferably in the nature of cotton batting, and the metal substance on the sheet 1 is in the nature of steel wool 2. As disclosed by the drawing the roduce' steel wool is disposed in closely arpangedpatches on both of the faces of the textile bodyand the sheet is impregnated with a suitable oil.
A cleaning sheet constructed as above described is designed to be rubbed over a metal surface to be cleaned. The fine steel wool will act upon roughened substances on the surface, such as rust, -etc., to remove the same and to grind into the surface to render the same smooth. The oil which impreg- 4c nates the sheet materially assists the steel wool in this operation, and the cotton body serves asa polishing medium.
