Be it. known that I, EDGAR ERNEST WOI- SARD, a' citizen of the United States, and a resident of Pittston, county of Luzerne, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Waxing- Pads, of which the following is aspeciiication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which' similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention relates to improvements inA waxing-pads, the object of the invention being to provide a handy device of this character which is so constructed as to be adaptablefor effectually Waxing and polishing the surface of a sad-iron without the necessity of handling the pad, whereby danger of burning the fin gers of a user is obviated. The device further embodies a durable sad-iron holder which can be used after the pad is used up or which can be recharged with a fresh pad.

The invention will be hereinafter fully described, and specifically set forth in the anneXed claim.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this speciiication, Figure l lis a plan view of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the metallic sad-iron holder forming part of my device. Fig. 4L is a perspective View of the waxing-pad removed from the holder. In this view a portion of the casing forming part of the pad is broken away; and

In the practice of my invention I provide, primarily, a metallic plate A, which has the general contour of the surface of an ordinary sad iron. This said plate has extended around its edge a iiange a and is provided With legs a. Engaging with this said plate or sad-iron holder is a pad B, which comprises a base b, of Wood, a iilling O, of wax, and a casing D, of fabric, preferably of course heavy canvas. 'The pad B is preferably strengthened around its edge portions by means of a resinous coating C', which comprises, preferably, a mixture of resin and parafn in the proportions of two parts of paraffin to one part of resin. This is to prevent the pad from collapsing at the edges quicker than at the center.

The fabric covering or casing D is preferably secured to the pad by means of pins d., which pass into the wooden base b.

To add a iinish to the pad, a binding E is supplied thereto, which said binding has a loop e projected therefrom adapted for use in suspending the device from a nail or hook.

, As a means for fastening the pad to the Aholder the said pad is provided with strings of narrow webbing or other suitable material F, which said strings are to be tied beneath the holder A, as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 5 of the drawings.

In the operation of the device in order to wax the surface of an iron it is simply necessary to pass the heated iron over the upper surface of the fabric casing D, whereby the Wax moves through the meshes of the fabric and adheres to the surfaces of the iron. This operation may be continued until all the wax contained in the pad is exhausted.

Having thus described my invention', what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination of a metallic holder shaped to conform to the contour of a sadiron, provided with legs, and having an upwardly-extended iiange projected around its edge, with a pad comprising a wooden block, a filling of wax and a casing of fabric, a resinous compound applied to the edge of the Wax, means for securing the fabric to the block and for securing the pad to the holder, substantially as shown and described.
