ADVERTISING TWINE-BOX.
Application filed July 29, 1913.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Hnxny' K. Klso, a subject of the Mikado of Japan, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Advertising Twine-Box, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in twine or thread boxes, and particularly to boxes of this character which are designed to be used for advertising purposes and are consequently formed so as to receive a maximum amount of advertising matter while performing the function of holding and dispensing twine, thread and other allied articles.
The object in view is to provide a box or container formed with a nest of boxes for receiving the various articles to be dispensed, and to provide these boxes and containers with spaces on which advertising matter may be readily placed and observed when the various contents are disposed of or vended.
Another object of the invention is to provide a box formed with a plurality of compartments having slots therein designed to receive individual boxes containing thread and other articles to be dispensed which project through the slots in the box having the compartments.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a box or receptacle for receiving a cord, thread or other similar articles, the box being formed with an eyelet through which the thread or cord is fed, and with a shoulder portion against which a cap presses, the cap being substantially the same height as the top of the box whereby the cap cannot be individually pulled off when removing a length of the cord or thread.
In the accompanying drawingsFigure 1 is a perspective view of a. device embodying the invention, the various parts being shown raised or adjusted for more clearly illustrating the various structures; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section through a slightly modified form of the invention: Fig. 3 is a detailed perspective view of a further slightly modified form of the invention to that shown in Fig. 2; Fig. 4- is a detailed perspective view of a supporting bracket for the box shown in Fig. 2; and
Specification of Letters Patent.

Fig. 5 is a fragmentary sectional view approximately on line 5-5 of Fig. 3.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by numeral 1 indicates a box formed with a plurality of notches 2. Box 1 is formed vith a plurality of partitions 3 whereby compartments are provided, each compartment being supplied with a notch 2. A lid is also provided for box 1 which may be of the same height as box 1 and supplied with notches 3 mating with notches 2 or may be made comparatively short and notches 3 eliminated. Arranged in the various compartments in box 1 are receptacles 5 designed to receive thread or cord or other. matter as preferred, which preferably has the end thereof extending to a position exterior of box 1. If desired, some of the compartments may be provided with a needle or pin cushion 5. The various receptacles are provided with a box structure 6 and a lid 7, the box structure 6 being preferably formed with an extending bottom 8, against which the bottom of lid 7 rests. It will be observed from Fig. 1 that the lid 7 extends from the top of the box structure 6 to bottom 8, whereby the lid 7 cannot be easily removed when the thread or cord 9 is pulled through the eyelet 10. Eyelet 10 may be of any desired kind, as for instance an ordinary metallic eyelet. In forming the receptacles 5 the evelets 10 are arranged so as to register with the lower end of the notches 2 in order that the threads or cords 9 may be easily removed whenever desired. It will also be observed that the notches 3 in lid or top t are suiiieiently deep for un covering the eyelets 10 when the lid is in place.
The various receptacles 5 are formed with unbroken sides which may readily receive advertising matter of any desired kind so that anvone handling any of these receptacles will have their attention drawn to the matter advertised. Also box 1 has ample space for advertisement as well the lid or cover l. By providing box 1, lid 4 and the receptacle-s 5 and spaces for advertise ment, all of these members may be caused to advertise any particular article whether the various parts are assembled or whether the parts are used separately or in some other relationship.
When it is desired to use any of the receptacles separately, as for instance a twine holder, a supporting bracket or clip 11 is connected with the box structure 6 as shown in Fig. 2. This bracket or clip is formed with an aperture 12 designed to receive any desired securing means, as pin 13. The bracket or clip 11 is also formed with a turned-up nib 14 at the end and a pressedout portion or nib 15 intermediate the ends, these nibs being adapted to piercethe bottom 8 and be folded over as shown in Fig. 2 so that the supporting bracket or clip 11 will be clenched. rigidlv to bottom 8.
In Figs. 3 and 5 another slightly modified form of the invention is disclosed in which turned-over ends 19 designed to be passed through suitable registering apertures 20 and 21 in the cover 7 and body structure 8, respectively, as shown in Fig. 5.
Having thus described my invention,
what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent i's In a device of the character described, a box formed with a plurality of notches in the walls thereof, a plurality of partitioning members arranged in said box for dividing the box into the same number of compartments as there are notches, whereby each compartment will have an individual notch, and a receptacle arranged in each of said compartments formed with an opening registering with partof said notches, whereby the material to be dispensed from said re ceptacles will have one end thereof extending through the openings in the receptacles and through said notches to the exterior of the box;
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses HEN Y K. Kiso;
Witnesses:
A. L. KITGHIN, G. H. EMsLIE.
