PETER EBERLE.
mprovemen'f `ifn- Pruning-Saws.
No. 115,834.V
Patented June is, 1an
PETER EBERLE OF FREETOWN, INDIANA.
MPROVEMNT IN PRUNlNG-SAWS.
Speoieation forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,834, dated June 13, 1871.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known th at I, PETER EBERLE, of Freetown, in the county ot' Jackson and in the State ot' Indiana, have invented an Improved Pruning-Saw; and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact descrip- -tion thereof', reference bein g had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of the invention consists in the construction and use ot the pruning-saw hereinafter described, said device to be madeot' Wood, iron, steel, and ropes, or any other convenient and suitable materials.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use iuy said invention, l proceed to describe it more particularly, as'iollows, viz:
A B ofthe accoi'npanying' dra-Wing; is aloop of wood,.in which is placed the elliptical saw a. I) Z1 and fd. are strips ot' Wood fastened to each end ot' the saw, and arranged to work with it in the loop A B. C G is a gum spring` fastened over the topoi1 the loop A B and on the ends of the wooden strip b I). (l D is a strong strip ot' wood fastened to the loop A B, and coupled to the strip F by means of the band E, so as to be adjusted as to length by means of the pin q andthe holes t and u. Gris a socket for the strip F firmly fastened to the base H. I is a treadle, fastened by the hinge w to the base H. e and g are pieces of rope fastening the rin gs l and m to the wooden strip df. Through these rings pass the two ropes, o p and r s, which are secured at one end to the treadle I and at the other to the pin q. All ot these various parts are to be placed in their positions, as represented in the drawinfr.l
To use my said device, the operator leans the edge. of the saw against the limb he proposes to cut. o Then he presses the trcadle l with his i'oot it will draw the saw down a little in the loop A L; as the pressure is relaxed the. gum spring C G will draw the saw np again; and so a reciprocating motion is produced, which may be continued until the liinb is cut oil'.
Any desired length inay be attained by means of the adjusting-pin q and holes u and t. I'Vhat I claim, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is I The pruningsaw herein described, when constructed and used substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as mine I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of July, 1870.
y PETER EBERLE.
