To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES L. BLoDeET'r, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Alameda, in the county of Alameda and State of California", have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Line Pulleys, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing. I
This invention relates to clothes line pul- 1 leys, and has for its object the production of.
a simple and eflicient means, whereby .the
line may be held upon the pulley so as to beiprevented from jumping off the pulley and'become entangled with the support for the pulley.
duction of a simple and eflicient yoke and means for supporting the same in connection is held-against movement relative to the supwith a pulley to act as a guide or protector for the clothes line cable adapted to pass over the pulley. I
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel combinations, constructions, and arrangements of parts aswill be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing :Figure 1 is a perspective view of the pulley in operation. F ig. 2 is a central vertical section therethrough. Fig. 3 is a central horizontal section therethrough. Fig. 4 is a detail per- 7 spective of the cable retaining yoke. Fig. 5
is a plan view of the blank from which the pulley su porting frame is formed. Fig. 6 I V p be clearly understood for holding the link is a vertical section through the outer looped end of thepulley supporting frame showing the manner in which the cable retaining loop porting frame.
By referring to the drawings it will be i seen that 1 designates the pulley supporting frame which is formed of an elongated blank sheet of material being bent intermediate its ends toconstitute a hook engaging side portions are provided with apertures 3 adjacent their outer ends for the purpose of receiving the pintle pin t which is adapt- 1 the link.
lines in Fig. 1. g
The, outer/ends tions of the frame 1 are rolled so as to produce'the elongated cylindrical portions 7, and within these cylindrical portions 7 is placed an elongated elliptical link8 formed of wire or othersuitable material. The link rotate upon the frame 1 without interfering TED STATES rA'rENT FCE Patented ea. 19, 19,15,1 5 Applicatinfiled se tember ze 'e S'ria1'No.863,355.=
able support such as is illustrated in dotted of the parallel side g V with the link 8. lt'should be understoodj that the link 8 projects above and below the pulley 5 at a sufiicient distance to consti-" tute means for preventing the cable 9 adapted to pass around the pulley 5 from jump- 1 ing from the pulley and becoming entangled with the'frame 1" or "otherwise disengaged from the pulley. 1 e
By carefully considering Figs. 1 and pit will be seen that the cylindrical portions 7 are punched inwardly so as to produce in I w'ardly extending tongue portions 10 at their respective ends'and upon each side for grip ping into the link 8 and constitute eflicient means for holdingthe link 8 against lohgitudinal movement within the cylindrical portions 7 of the frame 1. It will be seen that the inwardly bent tongues 10 will con stitute a very efficient means for biting into the notch portions 11 which are formed in the link 8 by punching the tongues 10 into These tongues will constitute an eflicient means as stated .above and as will against longitudinal movement within the cylindrical portions 7 or against transverse H movement relative to the frame 1.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that a very simple and eflicient, as well as a durable'device has been produced for.
Having thus' de scr'ibed the invention what l is claimed as new, is
A device ofthe cla ssdescribed' comprising a frame, a pulley carried thereby. said frame provided with parallel side portions having bowed cylindrical portions at their outer ends and extending at an angle to said frame, a retain-ing linkcomprising'an elongated elliptical body portion fitting within said cylindrical portions and straddling said pulley for' constituting a retaining means for holding 'a cable upon said pulley, said 7 In testimony whereof I hereunto afiiX my cylindrical portions provided With inwardly signature in presence of two Witnesses. punched tongues upon their respective sides CHARLES L.
