Description

HENRY FREE.
improvement in Camp-Stems.
NO. 115,598. Patented iune6,18il.
. K \9 A inventor Ji f JZLMM HENRY FREE, OF LEWISTON, MAINE lMPROVEMENT IN CAMP-STOOLS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,598, dated June 6, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY FREE, of Lewiston, in the county of An droscoggin and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Camp-Stool; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention has for its main object the production of a camp-stool which shall be capable of being folded in a very small compass when not in actual use; and consists in certain details of construction, which will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the stool ready for use; Fig. 2, the same folded for transportation; .and Figs. 3, 4, 5, and 6, views of detached parts.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe fully its construction and manner of operation.
A A A represent the legs of a three-legged stool, which are united by means of a triple screw, as, as shown in Fig. 5, and provided with the ordinary seat-straps a a a. The
principal peculiarity of the construction con sists in providing each leg with a joint, a
and sliding sleeve if, as shown, by which means the legs may be folded together. To hold the sliding sleeve in place a spring, a is inserted beneath it, as shown in Fig. 4. By means of this construction a camp-stool may be made small enough to be carried in a pocket.
The operation is easily understood from the drawing.
When it is desired to use the stool, the legs, after being unfolded and secured in place by the sliding sleeves, are spread apart, as shown in Fig. 1. At other times the legs are closed and folded together in a compact bundle.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim asnew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. .A camp-stool, provided'with jointed legs, sliding sleeves, and holding-springs, as described.
2. The camp-stool described, having its legs united by a triple screw, the legs being jointed and provided with sliding sleeves, substantially as described.
This specification signed and witnessed this 28th day of April, 1871.
HENRY FREE.
