2 SHEETS- SHEET 2.
os'fAs ivns'rnil; or new HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
To all whomit may concern Be it known that I, OSIAS NnsTEL, a citizen of the United- States, residin g at New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of
which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanylng drawings.
My invention relates to new and im proved stove, having especial referenceto gas stove.
It is the object of my invention, among other things, to construct a stove of this character that will give the greatest efficiency with the minimum consumption of gas and may be constructedof few parts so designed as to be economically constructed and readily assembled.
To these, and other ends, my invention consists in the stove, having certain details of construction and combinations of parts, as will be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claim.
Referring to the drawings, in which like numerals of reference designate like parts in the several figures; Figure 1 is a front view of my improved stove complete; Fig. 2 is a fragmentary plan view thereof; Fig. 8 is an elevation thereof, taken upon line A-B of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a sectional plan view, taken upon line C-D of Fig. 1.
In the drawings the numeral 1 designates the body of the stove, which is constructed with an oven compartment 2, a broiler compartment 8, and a burner compartment 4, which are separated by the partitions 5, 6 and 7. Between these latter partitions is a baffle plate 9.
Upon two sides of the oven compartment is a chamber 10 between the partitions 11 and 12 and the body 1.
The partitions 6 and 7 are provided with one or more openings 8, and the partition 12 with one or more openings 13.
In each of the compartments 2 and 3 is a bottom plate 14, preferably formed of comparatively thin metal, and beneath which are the burners 15 and 16, both of which are connected with the gas supply pipe 17 through the valves 18 and 19.
Through the top of the body 1 is a plurality of openings 20, which are closed by covers or lids 21, and concentric with each of these openings is a spider 22. These spiders are arranged in pairs and connected gpcifia'tiofi bf Letters Per-ea. Patented ept, 14;, 1915, Application filed February 26, 1915. Serial No.- 10,7945.
3 by a pipe. 23, which in turn is connected with a gas supply pipe 24 by a pipe 25 and- ValVe 26. 1
It is the practice in gas stoves tocorinect each spider directly with the gas supply pipe, but in my invention I provide a single connection for two spiders, thereby minimize.
ing the of gas reqruired to-operate the two burners.
' VVith in the burner compartment 1" are the dampers 27, which are oaerated through the exteriorly exposed han les 28. In Fig. 3 these dampers are shown in their up position and divide the compartment 4 into three separate Chambers, but they may be shifted so as to lie flat upon the partition 5 and make the burner compartment 4 a single chamber, or two chambers, as may be desired.
Gas is supplied to the supply pipes 17 and 24: from a main or other source .of supply through the pipe 38.
It is the practice in gas stoves to arrange the burners so that they are in the open and are not confined, and by reason of which a very large percentage of the heat units are lost. lVith my invention the burners are inclosed so that none of the heat units are lost, the articles to be heated being placed upon the top of the stove and cov-' partments 2 or 3 pass out therefrom through the openings 8 and 13 through the chamber 10 and escape into the flue 29.
The oven compartment 2 is closed by adoor 30 of the usual construction and the broiler compartment 3 by a similar door 31, and either one or both may be provided with a thermostat 32.
There are minor changes and alterations that can be made within my invention, and it is therefore my desire to have it understood, that I do not limit myself to the exact construction herein shown and described,
but claim all that falls fairly within the spirit and scope of my invention, as set forth in the appended claim.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a stove, the combination with a body member, having openings therethrough, an oven compartment formed by partitions Within said body member and through some of which are one or more openings, a broiler compartment formed by partitions within said body member and through some of which are one or more openings, and a burner compartment therein between some of said partitions and anouter wall of said body member and extending over said oven and broiler compartments, the partitions of said oven compartment being so arrranged as to leave a chamber partly surrounding said oven compartment; a baffle plate Within Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D. G.
