Description

G. J. RYMAL.
HOT WATER HEATER.
APPLICATION FILED JULY 6.1916.

.HIHHHHIIII H IH I ll i GEORGE J. RYMAL, OF DENVER, COLORADO.
HOT WATER HEATER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Oct. 22, 1918.
Application filed July 6, 1916. Serial No. 107,777.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE J. RYMAL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Denver, in the county of Denver and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hot-Water Heaters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a hot water heater and has for its object to provide a combined boiler and cook stove or range.
Another object of the invention is to provide a water boiler having a plurality of fire boxes.
Another object of the invention is to provide a water boiler having means for limiting or increasing the amount of the hot water supply.
With the above and other objects in view, which will hereinafter be more fully explained, I having invented the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in
which Figure 1 is an elevational view of my device,
Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view on line AA, Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the device, and
Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail view of an auxiliary heater.
Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the following specification and in the several views in the drawings, in which 1 indicates my combined water boiler and range which consists of upper and lower sections 2 and 3, the upper being an oven section and the lower a boiler and heater section. Said lower section consists of an outer casing 4 and two spaced apart inner casings 5 and 6, both of which are spaced apart from the outer casing 4, whereby a vertical water jacket 7 is formed entirely around the two fire boxes 8 and 9, said fire boxes being entirely separated by the central transverse portion 10 of the water jacket. The box 9 is provided with an auxiliary water heater 11 which consists of a coil, the inner and outer walls 12 and 13 of which are fluted to form greater heating surfaces. This heater 11 is suspended above the grate 14 and the opening 15 centrally thereof permits the heat to pass therethrough, as well as passing entirely around, as it is smaller than the box 9. Pipes 16 and 17 connect the heater 11 with the water jacket 7 as well as support the same above the aforesaid grate. Doors 18 and 19 give access to the fire boxes 8 and 9 above the grates 14 and 20 and doors 21 and 22 permit access to the ash pits 23 and 24 of said fire boxes. Flues 25 and 26 lead from the boxes 8 and 9 to the hot air chamber 27 surrounding the oven 28. The flue 25 leads from the fire box 8 to the space 27, and the flue 26 leads from the fire box 9 to the space 27. Thus, there is a separate flue for each fire box. One wall 29 of the warming oven 30 forms one wall of the chamber 27 whereby said oven 30 is ordinarily warmed. This oven 30, however, is provided with gas heater 31 whereby it may be used as a bak ing oven when desired. Dampers 32 and 33 are provided in the flues 25 and 26, and a 'stove shelf 34 is provided on a plane with the surface 35 of the section 3. Gas heaters 36 are provided under the shelf 34 whereby the latter may be used as a gas stove.
Fires of difl'erent nature may be employed in the two fire boxes 8 and 9, and either or both of the flues 25 and 26 may be left in communication between said fire boxes, and the space 27, or either one of the same may be cut off by reason of the dampers 32 and 33. If it is desired to permit the heat from one fire box only to enter the space 27 one of the fiues will be left open.
By the above described arrangement, an ordinary supply of hot water may be obtained by building a fire in only one of the fire boxes 8 or 9, however, in extremely cold weather, or when an extraordinary amount of hot water or heat is desired, fire may be built in both fire boxes. Whether one or both fire boxes are in use four water jacketed walls are presented to the heat of the fire in each box.
Having now described my invention, that which I claim to be new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:
1. A stove having two separate water jacketed fire boxes, an oven disposed above the fire box and having an inclosed space adjacent the same, a flue leading from the fire box to the space adjacent the oven, said flue having a partition therein dividing said flue into two passages, each of which separately communicates with one of said fire boxes, and means for shutting off either of said flues.
2. A stqve having two spaced apart watei In testimony whereof I aflix my signatuire jacketed fire boxes, an oven disposed above 1n the presence of two Witnesses. the fire box, and having an inclosed space GEORGE J. RYMAL. ad acent the same, tWo flues leading respec- 5 tively from said fire boxes to the space ad-V Witnesses:
jacent the oven, and means for closing said JOHN H. GABNIEL, fines. A. L. NELSON.
