E. D. CONKLIN. PIN RECEIVING DEVICE. APPLICATION FILED !AN.21.19\3.
Patented Sept. 7, 1915.
1 A TTORNE V.
Application filed January 21, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD D. CoNKLIN, of Newark, in the county of Essex, in the State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pin-Receiving Devices, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description.
his invention relates to a pin-receiving device, and pertains more particularly to the formation of a handy and useful toilet article of unitary manufacture, having an annular retaining rim for confining a mirror and provided with perforations for receiving pins.
A further object is to provide a pad for holding the mirror in contact with the annular retaining rim and at the same time for retaining forations in said rim.
Other objects and uses will appear from the following description.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective View of the combined mirrorand pin cushion. Fig. 2 is a cross section on line 22, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the annular retaining rim.
The annular retaining rim -1 is provided with a laterally extending flange mirror 3 rests against this flange and is confined thereby. At the rear of the mirror is preferably placed a sheet of stiffening material 4, as cardboard. The sheet 4 is supported and held in place by a penetrable pad 5, preferably cotton batting.
The annular retaining rim -1- is pro vi'ded with a plurality of openings 6 extending through the wall thereof at the rear of the plane of the mirror 3, and if a stiffening sheet 4 is used, preferably as shown at the rear thereof, for receiving pins Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,
Specification of Letters Patent.
pins extending through the per Patented Sept. .7, 1915.. Serial No. 743,268.
7- which are retained therein by engagement with the pad 5. The pad 5 is preferably supported by a cardboard or other suitable material 8 d a cap or cover -9 is adapted tofit over the rear edge of the retaining rim l and is preferably frictionally held in engagement with said rim for holding the second sheet of,
mirror, strengthening sheets and pad in at the rear of the flange adapted for receiving pins, a panel fitted within the collet and having its edge resting against said flange, a protective sheet at the rear of said panel, a d of puncturable material fitted within the collet and supported on one side by the protective sheet, a second supporting sheet within the collet at the opposite side of the pad, and a cap having a circumferential flange adapted to frictionally engage the other edge of said collet and hold the supporting sheets, the puncturable pad and the panel in operable position.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of January, 1913.
, EDWARD D. OONKLIN.
