To all whom it may concern: j" p Be it known that I, EDWARD E. BERTHOLD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook andxState of Illinois, have invented certain newiiand useful Improvements in Annunciator-Fixtures for Residences, of which the following is a specification. V
This invention relates to a fiXture for a combined electric door-bell, electric dooropener and speaking tube system for residences, especially apartment buildings, and contemplates in particular a fixture comprising a unitary structure on which are mounted the bell, the speaking tube mouthpiece and the pushbutton' device for operating the electric door-opener.
In apparatus of this character, as at present installed in buildings, the door bell may be at one point in the apartment and the speaking tube and the push button for the door lock at respectively different points, and having no connection with the bell. It is the purpose of my invention to combine these three devices into a single unitary apparatus, and particularly toprovide a fixture to be mounted within the apartment, which fixture is pleasing in appearance and unites'all of the annunciator devices into a single device, so that the contractor will have only one device to install in an apartment. In this waythe amount of wiring, and also the amount of time and trouble in installation is reduced, and the wall of the room instead of being cut up at several places for mounting the different parts, has only the single fixture mounted thereon.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a diagrammatic view of an apparatus which includes a fixture'embodying my invention the fixture being shown in front elevation. Fig. 2 is a fragmental section through the wall of a building illustrating said fixture in side or edge elevation.
The fixture is arranged for attachment to the wall A within the apartment and com-' prises a flat base plate 5 having openings for screws 6 to secure the plate to the wall. Upon this plate, in this insta'nce'at its upper end, is mounted a bracket? which'carries a bell 8. I have deemed it unnecessary to illustrate the operating mechanism of the bell since it may be of any common or preferred form. f

The mouth-piece 12 for the inner end of the speaking tube 13 issecured in an opening in the plate 5, in this instance at the lower end thereof.
Mounted on the plate 5 between the bell 8 and the mouth-piece 12 is a push button device 14 consisting of an annular insulating member 15 secured to the rear side of the plate, a stationary contact terminal 16 mounted on said insulating member, and a spring or yieldable contact member 17 also mounted on said insulating member and arranged to be moved into contact with the stationary terminal 16 by means of an insulating push button 18 sliding in a sleeve 19 which is mounted in an opening in the base plate 5. Screws 20 are arranged to attach wires to the contact members 16 and 17 The outside door B of the building carries an electro-magnetic locking device 21 of any common or preferred construction, which device is arranged to be operated by the push button device 14 to trip the retaining dog thereof and permit the door to be opened.

I claim as my invention:
As a new article of manufacture, a combination fixture of the character described con sisting of a fiat base plate adapted for attachment to the Wall of a building, said base plate having three openings therein, a bracket a push button structure mounted in another of saidop'enings, and a mouth piece for a speaking tube mounted in the third opening.
