BURGLAR-ALARM.
Application filed October 15, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT O. HILLEY,
a citizen of the United States, residing at trance of unauthorized persons into a build ing either through the door or window.
Another object of the device is to provide a means for operating the signals in such a way that the person entering the building will be unaware of the fact that he has given the alarm.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device which may be readily attached to an ordinary electric circuit without the necessity of placing wires or otherwise rearranging the circuit.
ll'ith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which:

The burglar alarm is designated by the numeral 6 and comprises the base board or plate 7 which may be of any suitable material and finished in any desired manner. Secured to this board 7 are the signal sockets 8 in which various signaling appliances are Specification of Letters Patent.

The opposite pole 13 of the switch is connected by suitable wires which are preferably embedded in the base '7 to the various distributing sockets 8 so that when the switch is closed, the current will flow through the various signals. carries an eye 11 and the lower end is provided with a suitable hook or other-attaching means 15 by which the device may be secured to the wall. A suitable attachment plug 16 is threaded into the feed socket 112 and is proi'ided with the feed wires 13 having connected at their opposite ends, the plug 17. A suitable switch preferably of the pendant tvpe 18 is connected in one of the wires and is provided with the wire 1 leading therefrom so that the switch may be positioned at apoint distant from the alarm.
Threaded into the distributing sockets 8 are suitable connecting plugs 20 having connected thereto the wires '21 which lead therefrom to suitable lamp sockets 22 or any other suitable means and mounted in the lamp socket are the signal lamps 23. The wires 21 may be of varying lengths in order that the signal lamps and signals may be posi tioned in various parts of the building so as to give the signal in a distant place.
In order to operate the signal there is provided the flexible member designated by the numeral 21. one end of which passes through the eyes 25 secured to the base 7 and is connected to the switch lever 26. The opposite end ofthe flexible member has attached thereto the securing members 27 comprising a pair of converging arms 28 formed with the spring loop 29 and these arms are forced between the eye 4 on the window frame as illustrated in Fig. 1. It will thus be seen that the flexible member will be held tightly across the window between the eyes 4 and 5 and any person entering the window will exert pull on the same thereby moving the switch arm 26 into engagement with the contact 13.
It is to be understood that if so desired a suitable transformer 30 may be connected The upper end of the base board 1 to one of the attachment plugs 20 and will serve to operate the bell 31 or similar signals when the circuit is closed therethrough.
It will be evident from the foregoing that the device may be provided with any number of flexible members 24: and when pull is exerted on any one thereof, it will be evident that the switch arm will be moved into con tact with the pole 13 thus closing the circuit to the various signaling devices and in event that the transformer and bell is connected to one'of the sockets it will be evidentthat the signal connected to the secondary of the transformer will be operated. It is to be understood that if so desired suitable plug sockets may be connected to the brackets S in -such a manner that a number of flexible cords 21 may be connected to a single socket, thereby increasing the number of places in which the signal may be given.
-While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodi-- ized person into the building, and signals connected to the other distributing sockets and operated upon the closing of the circuit.
2. A burglar alarm comprising a base, a plurality of distributing sockets on the base, signals connected with the distributing sockets, a feed socket on the base, a source of electric current connected to the feed socket, a switch between the feed socket and one of the distributing sockets and means connected to the switch to close the same upon the entrance of a person into the building to operate the signals.
3. A burglar alarm comprising a base a plurality of distributing sockets mounted on the base, a feed socket on the base, a power source connected to the feed socket, wires connecting the feed socket with the distributing sockets, a switch controlling the How of current through the distributing sockets.
