([3 uuantoz G EORGE W R's; N HHRDT' I a citizen of the United States,
GEORGE REIN H ARDT, OF IBRQCKTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that'I, GEORGE W. REINHAVRDT,
Brockton, in the county of Plymouth and State of Massachusetts, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in. Con- 1 CONTAINER.

ments in containers and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character especially designed and adapted for use in connection with merchandise susceptible to the influences of changing-temperatures; and the object of the invention is to provide a device of this general character "ragement of .the several parts of my imhaving novel and improved means whereby the merchandise placed therein is protected or. insulated from external temperature in :an efiective mannen I The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arproved container whereby certain important advantages are attained -and the device is rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, allaswvill be hereinafter more fully set forth.--' a The novelfeatures of the invention will becarefully defined in the appended claims.-
In order that my invention may be the i better understood, Iwill now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a container constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention, the cover members being shown in inoperative position and one of such members being shown partly broken away; Fig. 2 .is a longitudinal secgtional view taken'through a container as constructed in accordance with my invention, with the cover members in applied position, part of such cover members being broken away; F i .3 is a view'in perspective, detached, of the er herein'employed; and
'Eig. 4 is a view in perspective, on a reduced scale, of'the means herein included for holding the sections of the filler in assembled relation. e
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings, 1' denotes an outer casing of 'predetermine'd configuration and having one face thereof-ope'nfwhile 2 denotes an inner cas- This invention relates to, certain improve,-

relative to the walls of the outer'casing 1 and such space is provided with an insulating filler ,3 of env desired material but preferably of felt cloth or hair which in practice I have found to be especially advantageous. As herein disclosed, the filler 3 comprises a bottom layer a, side layers b and end layers a maintained in operative assemblage through the medium of the binding members -5. of any desired nature but preferably flexible, certain of such members being disposed in parallel relation longitudinally of the filler while the bottom layer a is maintained in proper relation through the medium of the longitudinal and transverse auxiliary binding members 6 secured, as
herein embodied, to the uppermost binding' strip or member 5.- By this arrangement it will be readily perceived that the several sections of the insulating filler maybe assembled with convenience and facility and in a manner which entails a minimum of space, which latter feature is especially desirable in a device of thisgeneral. character. It is to be observed that the open face of the inner casing 2 terminates a predetermined distance below the-lower face of the outer casing 1' in order that a removable filler 6' of suitable insulating material may be interposed between the cover 7 of the inner casing and the cover 8 of the outer casing. The cover 8 is of conventional formation and is provided with the marginal flanges 9 adapted to overlie the Walls of the casing 1 while the cover for the inner casing comprises an unobstructed flat body of material although this in itself in every instance is not essential. 1
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a container con structed in accordance with my invention is of an. extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is. particularly well adapted for use by reason of theconvenience and facility'with which it may be assembled, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without. material departure from the principles and spirit thereof and for this and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice. I a I claim:
1. An insulating filler comprising a bot,- tom layer, side layers and end layers, and I flexible members disposed around said layers for maintaining the same in assembled position, themembers disposed around the side, and end layers beingdisposed in longitudinal parallelism, the flexible members for maintaining the bottom laver in applied position being disposed transversely and longitudinally and having their extremities confiected to the uppermost longitudinal mem- 2. An insulating filler comprising a bottom layer, side layers and end layers, and
- position, the members disposed around the side and end layers being arranged in longitudinal parallelism, one of the members for maintaining the bottomlayer in applied position being disposed longitudinally with the remaining members disposed transversely, all of said last namedmembershaving their extremities connected to the uppermost of the first named longitudinal member.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature in the presence of'two witnesses.
GEORGE W. REINHARDT; Witnesses C. HAROLD PORTER, BURTON L. TIBBETT.
