Be it known that I, ROBERT A. RUTLAND, a citizen of the United States, residingvat Alapaha, in the county of Berrien and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Shower- Baths; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the'art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention comprehends certain new and useful improvements in portable shower baths, and has for its primary object to provide a device of this character which will be of such construction that it may be readily transported from place to place, will be cheap to manufacture and strong and durable as well as highly efficient inu'se.

This invention has for another object to provide a portable shower bath of 'theabove stated character including a body with a door, a tub beneath said body and a flange for directing water tosaid tub, a tank secured upon said body with a showermember or attachment depending from the same and means for controlling the discharge ofthe liquid from the tank through the shower member. f

The invention has for a further object to provide a device of this character which will be of improved and novel form and will include a shower nozzle depending from a tank positioned upon the reduced upper end of the body and having a valve positioned against itsl outlet above the shower nozzle and a flexible member connected with said valve and extending into the body, whereby the bather may readilycontrol the discharge of the liquid from the tank through the shower nozzle.

The invention has for a still further object to generally improvey and simplify the construction and operation of devices of this character and increase the efficiency thereof without materially increasing the, cost ofl the same.

With these and other objects in. view as will become more apparent as the descrip# tion proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring in detail to the drawings by nu` 4 merals, 1 designatesthe body which may be constructed of metal `or any other suitable material and which has the outwardlyflared legs 2 secured thereto to support the body in proper position with the lower end thereof a spaced distance above the floor or other support upon which the device is positioned.

Secured in the'lower portion of the body 1 is a circumferential flange 3 which has its lower edge extended inwardly and curved downwardly, as shown at 4;,'to direct the water or other l liquid to the tub 5 positioned beneath' said body 1, it being under-k stood that the lower end .4L of the ange 3 projects overlthe .tub 5 when the latter is in f position. v

The flange 3 has an upwardly `and outwardly directed extension 3 which projects outwardly beneath the door 6, vwhich. will be later fully and clearly described, to catch any water running down the inner faceof the door andjdirect-the same to themain portion of thelflange/S to-be directed by the same to the tub 5, therebyeliminating danger of the water escaping beneath the lower i edge of the door 6 of the body 1.

`The main portionlof the body 1 is pro-v vided with a suitablefdoor 6 mounted along one vlongitudinal vertical edge upon the hinges 7 and a suitable knob 8 by, means of which the door 6 may be swung to open position upon its hinges 7. It will be understood that the door 6 extends from the top to the bottom of the main portion of the body l, and the upper end 9 or top of the o depending circular flange 11 of the tank 11 being engaged over the ring 10 mounted against the outer face of the upper ends' y of the extended vertical strips 12 and secured to the same by bolts, as shown at 10,

and previously mentioned. lt will also be understood that the ring 9 at the upper end of the body 9 is secured against the inner face of the material forming the main portion of the body 9 and along the upper edge thereof, by bolts 25 or the like and if desired the rivets shown on the drawings may be replaced by bolts so that all of the parts of the device may be readily disconnected for shipping and other purposes. It will also be understood that when desired, the nozzle l5 may be readily removed from the discharge opening 14: when it is desired to lift the tank 11 off of the ring 11 and place the same upon a floor or other flat surface. 1t will further be understood that the portions of the main part of the body between the strips 12 may be formed of metal, cork or any other suitable material.

The tank 11 has a removable cover or top 13 and is provided in its bottom with an outlet or discharge opening 14 within which is secured the shower nozzle 15, having an enlarged perforated lower end 16. Positioned over the opening 14 is a fiat hinge valve 17 which is secured to the supporting plate 18 fastened to the upper face of the bottom of the tank 11, as shown at 19. The valve 17 is normally closed or engaged over the opening 15 to prevent the liquid in the tank 11 from reaching the shower nozzle 15.

Projecting upwardly from the valve 17 lis an eye 20 within which is secured one end of the cord 21 which is directed upwardly at an angle and extended through the side of thetank 1 and over a guide pulley 22, then brought downwardly into the body 1 and has a handle 23 secured upon its depending end, whereby the bather may readily draw downwardly upon the cord 21 to swing the valve 17 upwardly to position and permit the contents of the tank 1 to leave the same by way of the shower nozzle 15. As soon as the cord 21 is released, however, the weight of the valve 17 will cause the same to again move to closed position and cut 0H the supply of liquid from the tank 11.

'1t will be understood that the tub 5 may be provided with suitable handles 2,41 and if desired, a hook or other fastener may be secured in the body 1 for engagement by the handle 23 to retain the valve 17 in open position and leave the hand of the bather free.

While l have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

`What is claimed is 1. A device of the class described comprising a body, a tub beneath said body, a tank above said body, said tank being of smaller diameter than said body, said body including vertical strips, said vertical strips having their inner ends bent inwardly and extended upwardly to support said tank, said vertical strips having their lower ends turned outwardly on an incline to provide legs for supporting said body, a shower nozzle depending from said tank, 'said tank having a discharge opening above said shower nozzle, a valve normally positioned over said discharge opening, means extending into said body for opening said valve to permit the contents of said tank to reach said shower nozzle, means for guiding the last mentioned means, and a flange secured in said body and having its lower edge offset inwardly from its upper edge to direct liquid from the sides of the body to said tub.

2. A device of the class described comprising a body, a flange secured around the lower edges of said body, said ange having itsl lower edges extending vinwardly and curved downwardly, a ring around the up per edges of said body, a plurality of supporting strips secured to the outer surface of said-body at a point near their ends, the upper terminals of said strips bent inwardly and upwardly, adapted to support a tank thereon, the lower ends of said strips bent outwardly forming legs to support said body and tank, said tank mounted on the upper ends of said strips and provided with a central opening on its under surface, means for controlling the flow of water therefrom into said body, a tub under said body, and means for directing the liquid from the sides of the body into said tub.
