JAMES W. BROWN, 01? COVINGTON, KENTUCKY.
GARMENT-SUPPORTER.
Application filed October 10, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES W. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Covington, in the county of Kenton and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to garment supporters, and more particularly to the buckle or clasps on the supporter, they being so protected by anovel and unique attachment, that the buckle, clasp, or the like will not rust the undergarments or mar them from sweat, or make an abrasion of the skin, or produce similar inconvenience or danger.
Another obj ect of my invention is to form these means adjustable so that when the buckle or clasp is moved up or down, the attachment may be moved up or down to meet the buckle or clasp.
It is simple, cheap and highly efficient and may be used in connection with any form or species of supporter, and when the supporter is broken or used up this attachment may be applied to a new supporter.
This attachment may be made of cloth, rubber, linen, felt or of any suitable material, and attached to the garment in any desirable manner. I
The various features of my invention and their advantages, will readily become apparent from a perusal of the following specification and claims.
In the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a plan View of my improved attachment; Fig. 2 a view of part of a garment supporter with my attachment in working position thereon,
and Fig. 3 is a view of part of a garment supporter with my attachment in working position thereon, one flap being however thrown up to show the buckle and tongue.
The attachment is formed of two flaps 1 and 2 connected by a neck piece 3. In this neck piece 3 is cut a slot or slit 4 and a tongue 5. These parts are preferably formed of one piece of material, of any pre- Specification of Letters Patent.

ferred nature. The attachment is doubled upon itself through the agency of the seat 4 through which is passed the band 6 of the garment supporter; thus one flap is on either side of the band 6, the tongue 5 being passed under the clasp 7 of the buckle (see Fig. 3) thus the attachment is held upon the supporter. If it is desired to raise or lower the position of the buckle upon the band 6, the clasp 7 is raised and the buckle is slid up or down on the said band until the new position desired is reached; the raising of the buckle clasp 7 releases the tongue 5 and the attachment is slid up and down with the huekle; the clasp 7 is then pressed back into biting or gripping position and holds the attachment in place by clamping the tongue 5 against the web.
The garment supporter is shown supporting a stocking 8 through the medium of clasp 9.
In Fig. 2 the attachment is shown in its normal position, and in Fig. 3 one flap is shown thrown up out of position to illustrate details of construction and position.
The attachment may be made of any size, shape or contour.
It will be observed that flap 2 especially, coming next to the skin or garment will prevent abrasion and also keep any rust or sweat or the like from soiling or marring the under garments; in fact it will prevent the formation of rust as the sweat will not reach the metal buckle or clasp.
Of course it will be obvious and become readily apparant that this improved attachment may be attached at other points of the supporter than that specifically herein shown, and that its form and contour may be changed and varied, and modified forms thereof made and still fall within the scope of my invention.
What I claim as new and my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a garment supporter, having a band and clasping means, an attachment inclosing the clasping means, formed of flaps and provided with a slot through which the band dering the attachment capable of being moved up and down on the band, and tightly 1 held thereon by the clasping means.
JAMES W. BROWN.
