BOTTLE-SEAL.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED H. BRAECK- LEIN, a citizen of the United States residing ing is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in bottle seals, and is especially adapted for use on milk bottles.
The object of the invention is to provide a seal in which the whole bottle is inclosed, whereby the hands are prevented from coming into contact with any part of the bottle, thereby permitting the said bottle and its contents to be delivered to the user in a thoroughly clean and sterilized condition.
The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of the parts and combination of parts hereinafter'more fully set forth in the following specification and pointed out in detail in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing,Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bottle having my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a vertical action of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an inverted plan view of Fig. 1.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the several views thereof, 1 designates a cylindrical bottle having a contracted curved neck and an annular shoulder 2 in the neck thereof into which the disk 3 fits. The bottle 1 is inclosed in an outer cylindrical seal 4: which has a flat Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July fi,'1l915.
Application filed December 2, 1914. Serial No. $75,058,
is open at the bottom. The seal 4 is slipped over the bottle 1 and brought together and sealed by the seal 5, thus entirely inclosing the bottle. The seal 4: may be made of heavy paper, or other suitable material. By having the entire bottle inclosed in the seal 4: the said bottle and its contents will be delivered in a clean and sterilized condition, as it will be impossible for the said bottle, or its contents to become contaminated by the handling of the bottles, nor is it possible for dirt or germs to come into contact with the said bottles or its contents.
While I have shown my invention applied to a milk bottle, it is obvious that the same may be used for other bottles or packages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
The combination with a bottle having a flat top, a curved contracted neck and an annular shoulder in the neck thereof, a diskfitted within the neck of the bottle and resting on said shoulder, of a cylindrical seal having a fiat top and a curved contracted portion below said top to conform 'to the shape of the bottle neck and extending below, and adapted to be folded under the lower end of, the bottle and being open only at its lower end, and means to close the lower end of said seal after the bottle has been placed therein and the lower end of the seal folded under the bottom of the bottle.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALFRED H. BRAECKLEIN.
