IMPROVEMENT IN UTERlNE AND PROLAPSUS-ANI SUPPORTERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and-making part of the name.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALEXANDER M. DYE, of Elkhart City, in the county of Logan and State of Illinois, have invented a new and improved Uterine and Prolapsus-ani Supporter and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
Figure 1 represents a side view, partly in section, of my instrument, showing it applied to the body.
Figure 2 is a detail sectional perspective view of the lower support.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention consists in certain improvements upon those devices intended as a protection againsta falling of the uterus and protrusions at the anus. It will first be fully described and then clearly pointed out in the claim.
A in the drawing represents the waist-belt of the support.
B is the strap extending from the back of the belt to the vagina, braced iii front, as at we in the drawing.
Through the lower end of the strap B is fitted a button, b, to which the lower end of a short rubber pipe, 0, is secured, the end of said pipe being fitted over the knob of the button.
The upper end of the pipe 0 is fitted over a knob which projects from a cup, D. This cup constitutes the uterine support.
Into the pipe 0 is fitted awhalebone staff, (1, which enters with both ends cavities or sockets in the knobs of button and cup.
The pipe 0 is an elastic stern for the cup, and is by the whalebone made sufliciently-stili to sustain the cup and uterus.
The cup D has an aperture, e, at one side, which opposite the anus, and will, when the strap Bis made tense, crowd against the anus to prevent any prolapse.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The arrangement of the buttoned stem of the pessary and the sliding double conical rubber anus, sup ported upon the folded strap B, connected, as shown, to the waistband, for the purpose specified.
