Be it known that I, ALBERT MALSIN, citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brassires, of which the following is a specication. i

The present iention relates to an adjustable brassire or bust supporter for use during pregnancy and has forits object to make the same of a construction that at all times will hold the busts tightly in position and prevent them from hanging down or becoming fiabby.

The prevailing method now 1s to provide the brassire with lacings or elastics at its sides or elastics at the bottom of the brassire. Such method, however, has proved to be objectionable becauseas the wearers figure enlarges the material not only at the sides or bottom, but also around the busts, stretches, thereby loosening the latter and thus defeating the object of the brassire. To overcome this objection my new brassire has triangular or dart like incisions, the pointed ends of which are located below the lowest partof the busts and in which are inserted and fastened correspondingly cut pieces -of material of suiiiciently large width so as to give all the required fullness when the brassire stretches by reason of the enlargement of the Wearers ligure. The base of the dart'shaped material is shirred and elastic. Owing to this structure the pointed ends of the triangular pieces will act as pivotal points around which the former will swing while stretching as the figure enlarges, whereas that part of the material of the brassire which envelops the busts will at all times remain perfectly tight and hold the busts in the required position.

My invention also relates to other im provements which will be hereinafter fully described and set forth in the annexed claims.

The part of the brassire located above the lowest part of the busts will not change during the enlargement of the figure, but will permanently maintain its size and consequently this part can be cut to fit various sizes. Furthermore, to give the necessary freedom of movement, the brassire is vided at its shoulders with elastic bands e.

My new brassire may be provided with short sleeves f to enable the wearer to insert shields.

Although I have shown the brassire provided with two adjustable pieces, itl is understood, that only one may be used. There also may be other changes made in the construction without departing from the spirit of my invention. I therefore do not wish to restrict myself to the details shown and described.

A brassire, having in 'front dart-lilze or triangular incisions, the bases of which are in line wi h the lower edge of the brassire and the apexes of which lie immedi* ateiy below the lowest bust line, stiening means along the edges of said incisions, pieces of material of similar shape but of greater Width. than the said incisions inserted in the latter and stitched to the edges thereof, the lower edges of said pieces being folded upon themselves to formpockets and elastic members passed through said pockets and fastened at their ends to the body of the brassire in contracted state.
