Description

DANIEL T ROXELL, 0F NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
lLetters Patent No. 114,370, dated May 2, 1871.
IMPROVEMENT IN LUNH-BOXES.
The Schedule refer-xsd to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Beit known that I, DANIEL' TnoXnLL, of Newark, in the county ot' Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and improved Lunch-Box; and I do hereby declare that the following-is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, whicllwill enable others skilled' the art to make and use the same, reference being. had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this-specification.
Figures l and 2 are vertical transverse sections of my improved lunch-box, taken respectively on the planes of the lines :c n; and y y, fig. 3, and showing the box opened and closed.
Figure 3 is a front view of the same opened.
Siinilar letters of reference indicate .ctn'respomlingl parts.
This invention relates. to a new convenient lunchboxof snch arrangement that its several contents will be properly separated and easily reached when required. 4
The invention consists in making the box of rectangular 'form in halves, which are hinged together, and contain the interior vessels, 1ids,a.ud exterior handles and support, as lhereinafter more fully described.
A in the drawing represents the body of the box.
B is the cover oi the same. Both are hinged together as at e in the drawing, and can be opened as in tig. l, or closed as in tig. 2. The cover B is about as large as the body A, containing as much room as the latter.
A hinged lid, (l, is arranged within. the upper pari ot' the body A, to cover` and protect meat, bread, or other matter contained therein.
Theeover B serves as a receptacle for two small vessels, D and E, of which one constitutes a ask for containing coffee or other beverage, while the other may receive butter, jelly, fruit, or other mattei'.
When the entire box is closed the cover and body are held together by a spring clasp, b, or equivalent device.
'lothe back of the cover, on the outside of the same, is hinged a. square link or wire, F, which can beswung out to serve as a foot for the cover when the same is folded back, as shown.
The lunch-box, when used, is put up as shown in figs. l and 3, so .that the cover is folded back and rests on the foot F. The vessels D E can then be convenientlydrawn out and replaced, and the lid O can be opened or closed at will, so'that the box will also constitute a cleanly support for the articlesot' food durin g meals, Vwhich in workshops is a great desideratnm.
Having thus described minveution,`
l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 'lhe lunch-box oomposedof the hinged parts A B,
lid C, vessels DE, and foot F, substantially as herein shown and described.
DANIEL TROXELL.
