Another object of the invention is the pro duction of a simple and efficient means for efiiciently supporting the rotating center so as to allow the center of the table to easily be rotated when it is so desired.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel combinations, constructions, and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed. a
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the table, portions thereof being broken away to show the interior construction thereof. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective of a portion of the primary section of the ball-bearing race. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective of the auxiliary portion of the ball-bearing race. Fig. 4 is a detail perspective of the central supporting pin for the rotating center. Fig. 5 is an enlarged vertical section through the main supporting leg of the table showing the socket portion which is adapted to receive the lower end of the supporting rod. Fig. 6 is a vertical section of an embodiment of the table supporting device.
By referring to the drawings it will be seen that 1 designates the base which is provided with a plurality of diverging arms 2 at its upper end. These arms 2 support a substantially ring shaped top 3, andwithin this ring shaped top 3 is mounted the rotating center 4 of the table. i
The rotating center 4 of the table is provided with a socket portion 5 within which is placed a lining 6 for receiving the enlarged knob end of the supporting rod 8. The knob 7 is provided with a smooth upper end so as to allow the free rotary movement of the central portion 4 of the table upon the supporting rod 8. This supporting rod 8 has its lower end seated a lining 9 which lining issupported in the pocket 10 formed inthe leg 1 of the table. This lining 9 is 'provided with a circumferential flange 11 around its edge so as to facilitate the securing of the lining 9 to the leg 1 of the table.
The outer edge of the central portion 4 of the table carries the primary section of the ball-bearing race, which primary section 7 comprises a sheet metal body having a flat base portion 12, which base portion terminates in a vertically extending wall 13, the vertically extending wall 13 in'turn terminating in a laterally extending bridge'por tion 14, and this bridge portion 14 carries an integrally secured convo-convex channel 15, which channel 15 constitutes a pocket or race for supporting the ball-bearings 16. The base 12 of the primary portion of the ball-bearing race is secured to the under face of the central portion 4 of the table by means v of screws 17 1 An auxiliary section of the race is mounted in the pocket 18 formed upon the under and inner periphery of the top 3 and comprises a vertically extending wall 19 terminating in a rolled head portion 20 which rolled bead portion 20 in turn terminates in an inwardly extending lateral flange 21.
The vertical wall 19 is secured in the pocket 18 by means of screws22 .and as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1.. The bead portion 20 is.
adapted to receive, the balls 16 and it will, therefore, be seen that by means of the present ball-bearing connection of the central portion 4 and the top 3 an efficient means has been produced for facilitating the easy rotation of the central portion of the table 4.
From the foregoing description it will be further obvious that owing to the manner in which the ball-bearings 16 are placed under the inner edge of the cover 3, these ballhearings will prevent the central portion 4 of the table from tipping from side to side, thereby holding the central portion of the table against swinging movement and only allowing a free rotary movement upon the central supporting knob 7 rod 8. V i t In Fig. 6 there is shown an embodiment of the invention wherein the leg or supporting of the supporting standard 1' is provided with a plurality of diverging supporting arms 2, which supporting arms 2 support the top 3'.
