SAFETY SPOOLZ%IQLDFR FOR SEWEN'G-IEACHENEQQ To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL lgnuonn, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Safety Spool Holders -for Sewing Machines, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to 10 which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to holders for the thread spools of sewing machines and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class designed for use in manufacturingestablishments, and to prevent the theft of the spools of thread.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms apart, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which I Figure 1 is a sectional view showing my improved spool holder secured to the table of a sewing machine; Fig. 2 a side view of the spool holder detached; Fig.3 a perspective view of a spring arm which I employ, and Fig. 4 a cross section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2. y

In. the drawing forming part of this specification, I have shown at a the table of a sewing machine, and at b a spool of thread of the class usually employed in manufacturing establishments. In the construction shown, the spool b is without the ordinary end heads but said spool may be provided with the usual end heads if desired.

In the practice of my invention, l have provided a spool holder comprising a standard 0 having a flat base. a which is secured to the table a by screws 0 or in any desired manner.

A thread spool holder adapted to be secured to the table of a sewing machine and comprising a standard on which the spool is loosely mounted, said standard being provided with a part adapted to be engaged by a spring, and a spring mounted in said spool and adapted to engage said part, said spring being held in operative position by the 4 thread wound on said spool.

i. A thread spool comprising a standard provided with a head on which the spool is adapted to be placed, said spool being pro vided with a spring lock device adapted to engage said head and which is held in operative position by the thread wound on the spool.
