Description
@anni REZIN M. PRICE, OF LEESVILLE, OHIO.
Letters Patent No. 113,925, dated April 18, 1871.
IMPROVEMENT IN BEDSTEADFSTENINGS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making paxt of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, REZIN M. PRICE, of lLeesville, in the county of Carroll and in the State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bed- 'steadliastenings; and I do hereby declare the following to be -a full,k clear, and exact description of the same, reference beingr had to the accompanying drawing making part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a horizontal section on line xx of iig. 2, showing that portion of the fastening which islet into a recess in the side rail of the bedstead, covered by a plate.
Figure 2 is an elevation showing the bed-post in section and the covering-plate removed.
The same letters of reference employed in the draw-y ing denote identical parts.
This invention relates to that class of devices which is used for `connecting the side rails of bedsteads with the posts of the head and foot-boards and My improvement consists in the details of construction, as will be specifically' pointed out in the following description and claim.
To enable those skilled in the art to make and use my description, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In the annexed drawing-- l A represents a portion of one of the legs of a bed- `stead, and
B the end of one of the side rails.
The fastening is composed of a hook, O, attached to the side rail, and a pin, D, extending across a recess in the post, which is entered by the projecting portion of the hook in catching over the pin.
The part G of the hook which projects beyond the endv of the rail is formed with a slot inits lower end to receive the pin, and the outer side c of this slot is thickness and substantially the form shown in fig. 2,
the former terminating in an enlargement, c', of circular outline.
The manner of securing the hook to the rail consists in simply inserting 4its parts C2 and C3 in a recess cut for the purpose iu the inner side of the rail.
This recess must have the exact outline of these` parts, and in depth be equal to their thickness, so that when inserted thereinthey will be flush with the surface of the rail.
These parts are then covered by a plate, E, screwed to the rail, and abutting at its outer end against the shoulder formed b y the thicker projecting part Cl of the hook.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The hook G of the bedstead-fastening herein described, when constructed with the shouldered projecting part Ol c and shank O2 Cac', in combination with the recessed side rail and the. covering-plate E, substantially as set forth. i
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
