To all whom it may concern Be it lmown that I, CHARLES F. THoMAs, a citizen of the United States, residing in the county of Granville and State of North Carolina, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shoe-Pullers, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to a pulling device for boots or shoes, the object being to provide means whereby a boot or shoe may be readily pulled upon the foot of a person after the foot of the person has been partially inserted within the shoe.

Another object of the invention is the construction and arrangement of a simple device which can be manufactured at a low cost and which will perform the functions for which it is intended with ease and accuracy. 7

Other objects and advantages of the device will appear as the nature of the invention is more fully described, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the operation of the improvement, Fig. 2 1s a central longitudinal sectional view taken through the shoe with the improvement applied thereon, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the improvement detached.

My improvement contemplates the employment of a casing which is preferably constructed of leather or some other tough flexible material, and is in the nature of a sling. The sling 1 is shaped to correspond with the shape of the lower portion of the shoe, but the same is adapted to embody the required amount of resiliency to permit of the said sling being arranged upon shoes of different sizes. The sling thus includes an open top through which the shoe proper is inserted and a continuous side. The open portion of the bottom 2 which is arranged at the rear portion of the sling has its opening provided for the reception of the heel of the shoe. The toe portion of the bottom is also preferably open, as indicated by the numeral 3, the front of the sling being provided with an extending tongue 4 having one of its ends provided with a catch, such as a button clasp, which is adapted to engage with one of a pluralityof headed members or buttons 5 secured to the bottom of the sling and whereby the said tongue may be adjustably' secured over the toe of the shoe. The forward or toe portion of the sling is provided wlth a strap 6 to which is secured a loop 7 having an inner end 8 or strand provided with a clasp 9, the said clasp being adapted to engage with the front portion of the shoe. The heel portion of the sling is likewise provided with a strap 10 which has connected therewith a second loop 11 and which is provided with a downwardly extending cord or strand 12 having attached thereto a spring pressed clasp 13 which is adapted to engage with the rear portion of the upper of the shoe proper. By such an arrangement it will be noted that by manipulating the loops the upper of the shoe may be spread to permit of the insertion of the foot within the shoe. An upward pull upon the loops will quickly and efiectively force the shoe upon the foot.

The device is simple and as previously stated, can be manufactured cheaply, and its simplicity and method of operation will, it is thought, be perfectly apparent to those skilled in the art to which such invention appertains without further detailed description.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

1. A shoe pull comprising a sling including a continuous side having an open top, a partially closed bottom and a partially closed front, a tongue secured to the front and extending beyond the opening therein, means for securing the end of the tongue to the bottom of the sling to engage with the toe and sole portion of a shoe and to secure the sling upon the shoe, and strap members secured to the front and rear of the sling.

2. A shoe pull comprising a body conforming to the shape of the rear and lower portion of a shoe, the same having a top opening to receive the shoe, a toe opening through which the front portion of the shoe is passed, and a heel opening to receive the heel of the shoe, and pull members at the front and rear of the body.

3. A device for the purpose set forth, including a sling having a loop at its front and a loop at its rear, and a catch associated with each of the loops.
