Patented Mar. 30, 1915.
WITNESEES [NVENTOR R.S.NOAKE5 ATTORNEY ROBERT SMITH NOAKES, OF LONDON, ENG-LAND.
SUPPORT 0R ADJUSTER FOR SOFT COLLARS Specification of Letters Patent.
ratemecarar. so, rare.
Application filed ctober 25, 1912. Serial No. 727,744.
To all it may concern o I Be 1t known that- I, ROBERT Sui-fig NoAnEs, a subject'ofthe'King of England,
and resident of London, England, have in vented certain new and useful Improveapart) adapted to be inserted in inverted posltion between the folds of the collar where ends overlap and provided at its extremities with stud-like members adapted to be Inserted in holes preferably formed at the lower corners of the outer fold of the collar.
In the preferred form of construction the central part of the wire bridging the limbs of the U is curved out of the plane of the limbs to suit the curvature of the neck while the shank portions preferably incline toward one another so that the edges of the collar will be brought near to each other when the stud-like members are in position. In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 an elevation and Fig. 2 is a plan of a :upport and adjuster embodying the invenion.
Referring tothe -dra'wings, a, a denotes the shanks ofthe support and adjuster; b, b
j are" the, stud-like members "adapted to inserted holes preferably formed in the lower cornr'sfof the outer fold of the collar; and "c is the central portion shown curved to suit the curvature of the neck.
Any movement of the neck of the wearer against the collar merely results in a displacement of the inner fold.
Having described my inventionI declare that what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. A unitary device for supporting soft collars comprising two forwardly extending projections adapted to engage the outer fold of the collar, upright members each extending from one of said projections and flaring outwardly therefrom and a single member extending from the upper portions of said upright members and bent downwardly and forwardly therefrom to acentral point and serving to maintain the projections in suitable relation to each other.
2. A unitary'device for supporting soft collars, comprising two forwardly extending projections adapted to engage the outer fold of the collar, flexible upright members each extending from one of saidprojections and flaring outwardly therefrom and a single member extending from the upper portions of said upright members and bent downwardly and forwardly therefrom to a central point and serving to maintain the projections in proper relation to each other.
-In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
