BAG-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 23, T915.
Application filed September 12, 1913. Serial No. 789,503.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE C. MOTTERN, a citizen of the United States, residing at J onesboro, in the county of Washington and State of Tennessee, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to bag holders and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide a bag holder of simple structure adapted to hold bags of several different sizes in a manner so that they may be conveniently removed from the holder when desired.
With the above object in View the holder includes a cabinet comprising a top piece, a bottom piece and vertical partitions connecting the top and bottom pieces together. Bars are located against the outer edges of the partitions and the bottom piece is provided with a groove. Pockets are detachably mounted upon the bottom piece and have edge portions which enter the groove whereby the pockets are held in position. The said pockets are provided with inclined bottoms and each pocket is adapted to contain a bunch of bags. The upper portions of the bags are held in the pockets by the partitions and the bars of the outer edges of the partitions.
In the accompanying drawing :-Figure 1 is a front view of the bag holder. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the holder. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of one of the pocket members of the holder.
The bag holder comprises a cabinet adapted to be attached to a wall or shelf and the said cabinet includes a top piece 1, a bottom piece 2 and vertical partitions 3 connecting the top and bottom pieces together. Slats or bars 45 are se cured to the forward edges of the partitions 3 and the bottom piece 2 is provided upon its upper side with a longitudinally disposed groove 5. Pocket members 6 are provided at their lower ends with edges 7 which are adapted to enter the groove 5. The pocket members 6 are provided with inclined bottoms 8 which in turn toptea at thta patent may be obtained for are provided at their outer or forward edges with flanges 9. Each pocket member 6 is adapted to contain a bunch of bags and the lower ends of the bags rest upon the inclined bottoms 8 of the said pocket members. Thus the lower portions of the bags are separated from each other and the fingers may be readily inserted between the outermost bag of each bunch and the remaining bags whereby the said outermost bag may be readily withdrawn from the pocket member and from between the back of the pocket member and the slats 4.
The bags may be placed in the pocket members 6 by removing the pocket members from the cabinet or the pocket members may be in position in the cabinet and the bag may be slipped in position in the said pocket members. The pocket members 6 are of different sizes and are adapted to contain bags of different dimensions. Therefore it will be seen that a bag holder of simple structure is provided and that the same when in position against the wall or shelf occupies but little space and at the same time a bag of any particular size is accessible and may be readily withdrawn from the bag holder.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A bag holder comprising a cabinet provided at its front with anopening having a bar extending across the same, a pocket member tiltably resting on the edge of its back in the cabinet and inclined toward the said bar, said pocket member having fixed to its side and between its upper and lower edges a bottom the weight of which tends to normally hold the pocket member in an inclined position whereby an article resting on said bottom is gripped between the bar and the back of the pocket member.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE C. MOTTERN.
