To all whom 'it may concern: Be it known that l, CARL J. FRiD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stege,

in the county of Contra Costa and State of California, have invented. certain new and useful` Improvements in Lie-Preservers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements 1n life preservers and its object is to produce a device of this class in which the entire body of the wearer is protected from the water.

Another object is to produce a device of this class provided with air passages by means of which air is admitted to the wearer while he is in the water. My device comprises the water proof suit 1 which buttons down the front by means of the screw-buttons 2 which join the overlapping edges of the garment. The suit is formed with the

To the suit a water tight head piece 9 is secured by means of the removable mask 10 which connects it with the neck band 11 carried by the suit. A window or transparent lookout 12 is provided in the head piece. To the top of the head piece a ventilator 13 is secured by means of a band 141 and within said ventilator an air or water passage 15 is secured that connects with a water bag 16 disposed inside the suit 1 and provided with a water exhaust 17 extending out through the suitand bj means of which the liquid contents of the ag may be emptied. The ventilator 13 is provided with apertures 18 .to admit air and with downwardly inclined air passages 19 through which the air is led into said ventilator'. In the water the .wearer of the suit is kept in an upright position and through the air passages de.- scribed he will be supplied with air but it is possible that some water may enter through these passages also due to the motion of the sea and this water will be conducted through the passage 15 into the water bag and back into the sea. To the feet of the wearer metallic ballast pads 9.0 are secured to insure upright position.

vVlhat is claimed is 1n a life preserver, a water tight suit, a floating baggage-carrying belt, encircling said suit and flexibly secured thereto, a head-piece for said suit, a ventilator opening downwardly and outwardly carried by said head-piece, a water bag arranged inside said suit, a water passage connecting said water bag and the aforesaid ventilator, and water discharge means for said water bag.
