It will be observed, from the above description, that the operating mechanism is carriedehtirely by the'cover or flanged support, and that by projecting the base of the lamp within the confines of the flange of the support, the contactof the lamp is made Within said flange below the top of the support. Thus,the hood of the lamp can be-secured to.the outside of the flange, which" provides a very simple and inexpensive structure.
The invention is not to be understood as restricted to the details set forth, since these may be modified within the scope of the appended claimswithout departing'from the spiritahdscope of the invention.
Having thus described the invention what- We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is: v

A device of the class described, comprising a dry battery having both of'its poles at one end, a lamp support of conducting material adjacent the pole end of said battery, an electric lampcarried by said support and in circuit therewith as to one of its terminals, a contact member insulated from said support and withwhich the other lamp terminal is electrically connected when inserted to position,a switch member on said support for controlling the circuit, and flexible electrical connections fixedly and detachably connected with the poles of the battery and electrically connected to said support and said switch member, respectively.
